Have to read between the lines here. It comes down to whether his films are shown in PRC China anymore I’m sure. Xi has been cracking down on prior leeway that the entertainment industry had (albeit wasn’t much) so I’m sure that if Chan wants to work there anymore or have had films shown there a prior pro Democracy figure turning Red will make the elites in the Chinese government very happy. They’ll exploit his party membership even if his star power has diminished somewhat from his prime.

Ah yes, I can definetly imagine a a multimillionaire movie producer like him talking about seizing the means of production and overthrowing the borgoise class. Somehow I doubt he believes a word they say and is mostly doing it for monetary gains.

Every time one of the says something pro-CCP, many people immediately want to burn them at the stake. They don't seem to consider that these people might be faced with a choice of either putting out a pro-CCP statement or literally being barred from working and possibly being arrested and jailed. We'd all like to think we'd bravely stand up against tyranny, but most of us would fold like a cheap suit if faced with such a choice.

Jackie Chan's original audience was Hong Kong. He is losing that-this shows that China has increased its power over Hong Kong and that it feels no concern from its Western backers. Because western interests could harm China if it wanted to, but Biden is there to appease China now.
In the West, there are no stars who can criticize communist ideology.
Which so-called conservative actor or filmmaker has criticized communism? Regularly and openly? Or champion American nationalism or any nationalism?
Clint Eastwood, Schwarzenegger, they don't say anything on it. And there are no big stars anyway. Jackie Chan was the Asian superstar -- more so than in the West. Who could he be compared to? Chuck Norris?
Chuck Norris was never a superstar--he was doing Cannon and tv. I assume Jackie Chan was much bigger in Asia than Norris was in the West.

Somehow I doubt he believes a word they say and is mostly doing it for monetary gains. I feel that way about almost every self-described "Communist" or "Socialist" who can keep making millions, dodging taxes, but saying imply they support a redistribution of their wealth. They know it's never going to happen, so anyone who just "says" they are is looked at "Wow, he's willing to do all that for ME!"
Even charity is a joke. Not only is it usually for tax purposes, but it's a way to alleviate guilt by throwing (what would be pennies to me) money so they don't have to stick their neck out. Sometimes the best they can do is to give a random stranger 15 minutes of their time. Or speak out on the issues that trouble "the people" even when it isn't trendy.
