Jackie Earl Haley is easily the best thing about the remake and he comes nowhere close to even Robert England's worst effort as Freddy. It isn't entirely his fault though, Haley's face doesn't have the personality of England's face.
Robert England IS Freddy.

This one will be very one-sided but you can't beat Robert. Jackie did the best with what he was given though.

Robert England The one and only Freddy. He is in the category of characters that just can't be re-cast. Indiana Jones, Riggs and Murtaugh, John MaClane, Han Solo, Norman Bates etc.

He is in a very bad movie and expected to follow one of the most iconic and perfectly casted characters ever. Part of the problem is that they make him look too much like a monster. The human look of Freddy in the other movies is a big part of the effect. The irony is that the way the character looks in the remake is closer to what an actual burn victim would look like.

Robert England just happened to find this one perfect part and was perfection at playing it, which is why it is really the only thing he is remembered for. Outside of horror circles. Other horror movie actors like Bill Mosley have more talent than England in general imo.

The one person who voted Jackie over Robert is probably a better fan of Robert Englund than those that voted for him if the replies on this thread are anything to go by.

Obviously Robert but Jackie did the best he could under the circumstances, if only the studio didn't meddle with the remake it might have turned out better.
