July 15, 2011 the end of an era. A generation of kids grew up with these books and movies. Me being the perfect age as the first movie came out when I was 10 and the final movie when I was 19. Kids today will never know how it was like to be so hugely excited for the next book and anticipate the next movie and go crazy whenever any footage was released

It may happen again someday, though I doubt many kids read books these days.

Hard to believe it was that long ago.

I was forced to watch The Sorcerer's Stone and that was enough Harry Potter for me.
Even when I was a kid, I always thought these movies were childish and crap.
I actually grew up watching 80s and 90s action movies such as Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, The Terminator, Speed, Robocop etc.

It was a good decision to split up the last novel into two films.

I thought I was too old to dig into these books when they first came out, I was in my 3rd year at university. I still haven’t read the books but I enjoyed the movies. My wife started reading them about the time the Half Blood Prince (book) came out and she really loved them. I remember going to see Deathly Hallows at the theater in 3D. Good times

I think I started reading them around the time the third movie came out. There were 5 books when I started so the series was almost complete. I dug them. The movies are fine too although I don’t revisit them much.

I am actually going to see all the Harry Potter films soon. I have them all on DVD or Blu Ray. I seen the first 4 before but 5-8 will be new to me.

I read the books between the ages of 17 and 30 and absolutely adored them. Re-read them multiple times as well, something I rarely ever do when it comes to novels. And yet I have never watched any of those movies. I was afraid how they might alter my mental image of the characters and universe. That'll have to change.

Theres a sequence in the 7th film, i think....the first Deathly Hallows...that gives off a ton of horror vibes. Youll know which one i mean after you see it. Effectively creepy.

It was one of my favorite scenes of the series. Mostly for how unexpected it was. Most of this series is not attempting to be scary.
