I put a roast in the crockpot today. $4.99lb and I gave $9+ for it. It will make us several meals. Right on! I use chuck steak/roast for mine, and always cook mine in the slow cooker - never the oven. I like to put the thing on "low" setting late at night before I go to bed and let it slow-cook overnight. Then I wake up in the morning to the wonderful aroma of a perfectly cooked hunk of chuck roast. (Hint: adding a few bay leaves helps! lol) bay leaves! great idea!

Crock-pot roast beef is so good. When I make it I get everything ready the night before. Peel potatoes, onions, celery and carrots. Next morning put the roast, potatoes, onions, celery and carrots in crock pot. I dissolve a beef bullion cube in hot water and pour it over the roast. Turn on crock-pot and go about my routine. So easy when you get the stuff ready the night before. This picture I got from the web is exactly what mine looks like when done: Tip: Take a head of cabbage and cut two or three slices about 1/2 inch thick and place on top of the roast before cooking it.
