If , lets say a long time ago. He said that he has 3 favorite films that are taxi driver rio bravo and blowup. But then, much much later. He said that he has only one number one film. And it isn't one of those three.

No.
People change their mind and have different preferences as they get older.

Tarantino is still my favorite active director. Like Moviemouth says, opinions can change.

No. And why those 3? That's so random.

No. As someone else already stated, people's tastes change. And if the question was asked out of the blue, people don't always have time to reflect deeply before answering and will sometimes just give the first reply that comes to mind.

But what if a director was interviewed and some film was brought up, and then he said, that's my favorite film ever. So that would be the case of , he was not actually asked what his favorite film was, he just volunteered the information. So , that would mean that he already knew ahead of time what his favorite films was.
However as it turns out, he only thought he knew what his one favorite film of all time was, because according to my hypothetical scenerio which i stated originally... he's already been wrong once before.

Maybe the director in question is a prolific movie watcher (most likely given the profession) and re-watches old favourites at regular intervals. Over time, as the range of movies he or she has seen expands the choice of favourite movie may change. One's favourite movie in 2021 may not be the same as one's favourite movie in 2011.

I wouldn't care. People are free to change their minds about what their favorite movies are.
