Inspired by petrolino's most recent thread "Tina Louise" and the fact that we caught up this week with Ride the Wild Surf (1964) in honour of big wave surfer Greg Noll who passed away recently. A timely celebration of wonderfully talented, beautiful Barbara Eden who turns 90 in August. Aside from the spectacular Hawaiian location surfing footage, Noll is filmed uncredited doubling for surfer character Eskimo (James Mitchum) It is Barbara Eden who shines out with the most compelling performance as vivacious Augie Poole. Looking over her list of big screen credits which began in 1956 I was surprised to see so many and mostly un-seen... Do you have any Barbara Eden film feature favourites ?

She's awesome.
FUN FACT : Barbara Eden was in 'The Stepford Children' (1987) and Tina Louise was in 'The Stepford Wives' (1975).

She had a nice role in "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" (1961). I also love her taste in cars: Beautiful Barbara Eden in 1970 with her fanstastic 1969 Cobra Jet 428 Mach 1

I missed the entire beach blanket genre. I am not sure I have seen any of those surfer movies.
She did a number of tv movies as well. THE STRANGER WITHIN is an unusual role for her--she does the Exorcist possession shtick.
I am surprised she was almost 40 when I Dream of Jeannie ended. She just seemed way younger. I assumed she was 20 when she did Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Joan Collins is also like that--I am surprised to find out she was doing things in the 50s.

Joan Collins is a UK national treasure. She was showcased as prize guest in Piers Morgan's banner celebrity profile series, 'Life Stories'. Check it out.

7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1964), directed by George Pal. A 7322-year-old Chinese wizard straightens out the people of Abalone AZ, circa 1900. He has a tent like a tardis: it's bigger on the inside than on the outside. His message: loosen up, find wonder in every day, stop being so vain and greedy, and generally just be excellent to one another. Tony Randall plays an assortment of magical characters. For romantic leads we have Barbara Eden, just before I Dream of Jeannie, and John Ericson, just before Honey West (1965). Some of the scenes are for children but some aren't. Eden's scene with Pan the Satyr is memorably steamy. A few segments could have been tightened up for everyone. The Loch Ness Monster bit (in the desert!) looks much like a Ray Harryhausen effect, but isn't. I remember the book had a quiz at the end to see if you were paying attention.

Both Barbara Eden and Peter Lorre were in another Irwin Allen film called Five Weeks in A Balloon.

7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1964), directed by George Pal. The Loch Ness Monster bit (in the desert!) looks much like a Ray Harryhausen effect, but isn't. That's Jim Danforth's work-kind of a Harryhausen protege' but not quite--he worked on his own.
It's funny since Pal did puppetoons but I don't think he animated himself or had any outreach to Harryhausen since RH was doing his own thing--but Harryhausen had wanted to do War of the Worlds and shot some footage for it.
Pal used a company called Project Unlimited (Gene Warren, Wah Chang who designed Star Trek devices) Danforth was an employee. William Tuttle was Pal's makeup artist.

I can't speak for her film work, but she was in an episode of The Andy Griffith Show where she looked as hot as any female that ever appeared on television.
I don't post this stuff, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, feel free to post a picture. Actually, I'm begging someone to do that. 😁👍

Following on with Barbara Eden films we watched Flaming Star (1960) last night . Don Siegel directs, it is surprisingly a very good tough and violent western film, the story is well written with a pensive screen play from Clair Huffaker and Nunnally Johnson. Starring Elvis Presley, Barbara Eden and Steve Forrest the film was based on the book Flaming Lance (1958) by Clair Huffaker. Critics all agree that Presley gave one of his best acting performances as the mixed-blood "Pacer Burton" in a non musical, non Elvis dramatic role. Barbara Eden as country gal Roslyn Pierce has a central dramatic role, a wonderfully expressive personality, lighting up every scene she enters. Promo shot....

Eden returned to JR Larry on Dallas TV-series in it's last season 1991. Maybe it was an inside joke, or co-incidental casting. casting
