Schefty Bomb - 15 minutes ago -
'This off-season, the Packers offered Aaron Rodgers a two-year contract extension that would have tied him to Green Bay for five more seasons and made him the highest-paid QB and player in football.
Rodgers declined the offer, proof it’s not about the money'
I thought this was a ploy all along for AROD to become the highest paid QB/Player in the league
Guess he just hates Green Bay
Hasn't he said it's a cultural issue? Think perhaps there's something going on behind the scenes with Upper Management/Ownership - deeply rooted that is rather ugly that we don't know about - which is why he wants out?
Or is it he just hates his current environment
I've job hopped a lot in life folks.
Had an MBA instructor tell me if you're at a company 2-3 years and you're just cashing it in everyday going through the motions - not only are you not doing the company any good but you're not doing yourself any good either and it's just best to move on.
Nothing wrong with trying to find happiness and switching companies every so often - but if I was a Pack fan I'd be a bit offended. If I was a current teammate I don't think I'd want to see him Training Camp - just a distraction that wants out. i.e. - if you're unhappy with your current situation - leave - for the betterment of yourself and your employer.
What's the holdup? He should just come out and state he's holding out and please trade me ASAP - I don't want to put on a Packers uni/helmet again because I hate it here.

Maybe. It's hard to say with a lot of those teams. In a post-Brees-era are the Saints still a tough win the way we thought? What does anyone make of the Rams at this point? Do we buy that the Cowboys are really any good? All are up in the air. Same with those first 3; Atlanta seems to be hot and cold from season to season, Denver always seems to be good enough everywhere else on the roster to just hinge on whether or not their current scrub QB has a decent day... Washington is likely to be a mess though. As usual... although you can't count Fitzpatrick out on any given day. And who knows what the Giants are? They seemed to be improving towards the end of last year without a real running back, and they got some protection back and added some high profile weapons. As always, we'll just have to wait and see. The Giants and Eagles don't meet until Thanksgiving weekend. On one hand that feels really late for a first division game, but on the other hand we'll have a good idea of where they stand by then. I agree about the Rams and Saints - I don't get all of the over the top love for them at this point
But I think (hope) the Cowboys will be vastly improved. Their offense was fine - banking (hoping) on their defense being better. I like their 1st Round Draft Pick - LB Micah Parsons. Of course you can't count on a First Round pick changing the look of your entire defense - but they brought in Dan Quinn who supposedly has brought players in who fit his scheme. 8 of 11 players they picked in this years draft were defensive players. I just can't see them being as putrid as last year. Curious to see what Dak looks like too coming off injury
Cowboys 12-5 Eagles 11-6 Giants 9-8 Washington 8-9
These are my early projections. Birds could overtake Dallas for the top spot before the season starts...........
I don't think that highly of the Cowboys, and I think the Giants and Eagles are both question marks with an upside. As it stands now I'd give the Giants the edge over Philly because nobody knows what Hurts is gonna be, and Daniel Jones looks like he could take the next step to be a real starter. Jones has a greater sample size, and has all the tools. Yeah, he embarrassingly fell down on that run, but he also ran something like 80 yards without being touched, and clocked one of the highest speeds in the entire league last year, and that from a traditional pocket passer. They gotta protect him and get the ball out of his hands faster, but by the end of last year they were steadily improving and on paper the roster should be significantly improved, while on paper I don't think the Eagles appear to have clearly made strides. I think it'll be Dallas' to lose, but they've proven they know how to lose. I'd say the next best contender, as far as I see it right now, is NY.

Keep an eye out for rookie DT Milton Williams - apparently he's greatly impressed and you can stick him anywhere on the D-Line - a prototypical 2021 Swiss Army Knife so to speak.....

I agree that the Cowboys have to be the favorite in the NFC East - their offense should be very strong, and they have some talented players on defense as well. The Giants have a chance at winning the division, but a lot of it comes down to Daniel Jones - this is a make or break year for him, and I don’t have a lot of confidence in him even though he has a slew of talented players around him. I think Washington will be okay but I question whether Fitzpatrick can make it all season as a starter. I think the Eagles will finish last, I think they have the least talented roster and I don’t trust Hurts at all.

I think our success is going to come down to the health of our O-Line We have 3 returning starting O-Lineman coming back from injury. Not 1, not 2, but 3 returning starting O-Lineman Brandon Brooks - 3X Pro Bowler and regarded as one of the best guards in the game Lane Johnson - 3X Pro Bowler and regarded as one of the best tackles in the game Andre Dillard - he blew but he's going to have to compete with Jordan Mailata who played relatively well - so who knows if he beats him out or not We stay healthy - we're going to be dangerous . . . . Although I look at our LBs, Safeties and CBs and it scares the sh*t out of me as usual - like clockwork - every year.
Singleton played well last year though. Hopefully Slay has a better 2nd year here and the signings of Harris and Wilson pan out.

This makes us a bit stronger Looks like that speculated Ertz to the Bills trade for months may not go down Per Howard Eskin - 'Latest on #Eagles Zach Ertz. I know hear there is a great chance Ertz will be on team at start of season. Been told Zach will be there at start of training camp Tuesday. Zach has been working out in team facility for close to last 2 weeks with teammates. He’s over the issues.'Another reliable weapon for Hurtsy - makes us that much stronger - I don't get the incredibly low ranking

Packers are way too high for Rodgers is most likely not playing for them.
What they could offer in terms of money and commitment has been declined by now - and rightly so.

Breaking down game tape of our latest acquisition - CB Steven Nelson
I remember this guy - he picked Wentzy 2 times when we played the Steelers last year
2 days ago he requested his release from Pittsburgh
And now he joins us
He looks like a gamer
Our secondary issues may be solved

He's not spectacular but he's a very solid #2 cornerback. I've been surprised that nobody has picked him up to this point with how bad secondary play can be. I think he thought he was worth more than the market was bearing, but he's a starting quality performer.

What's the story behind him requesting his release?
Been reading people stating he's cooked (others stating he's decent and like you can't believe he's been out there) - the thing of it is - our Secondary is abysmal beyond belief (as it has been for years) - ranked #25 I think per PFF.
Him opposite of Slay? I'll take it. Slides Maddox down a notch as a backup with rookie McPhearson and apparently we're going to try Wallace out at CB (Safety last year)

I would think that he would be a good complement to Slay - - that isn't too much different than what we had with him being the #2 behind Haden. This is going to sound like damning him with faint praise but he's just very dependable. To me, he feels like what a second cornerback should be. In the two years he was a Steeler, I never came out of a game saying "he's the reason we lost". Any cornerback will let up receptions, of course, but he never seemed to be completely overmatched or out of place. For the Steelers, they went to him about dropping his salary because they were in real bad salary cap hell this year and they had resigned their third cornerback, Cam Sutton, who is younger and is ballpark as good as him. He asked for his release and the Steelers gave it to him. I was pissed at that move (and still think they are worse in the secondary now), but the market seemed to agree that he wasn't worth what he was looking for. But I think it's a good signing for the Eagles.

Hurtsy, Reagor, DeVonta and Quez are putting on a light show thus far Add in a healthy O-Line with Sanders, Goedert, Ertz (possibly) and we're going to average over 30 a game With a revamped secondary and our plan to keep rotating DEs and DTs - things are looking good Incredibly good I'm not liking the news on Dak I'm bouncing my Cowboys as my pick to win the NFC East I'm also bouncing them from my Super Bowl prediction to represent the NFC New Super Bowl prediction - Browns Eagles I'll revisit this post come February
