I wonder if there is something like this going on here in Canada as well. This morning there were four or five different channels showing the Olympic Games (CBC, RDS, more than one of the TSN channels) and all of them were showing USA vs France in Basketball!

Sorry, but skateboarding does not belong in the Olympic Games. Call me an old fart if you must. I agree. Skateboarding is a pathetic joke and has no place in the Olympics.

Adrian Moorhouse and Andy Jamieson couldn’t call a race if their lives depended on it. Half the time they never mention the winner until after the race is over! “Oh, where did she come from!?”
Muppets!
They’re the BBC swimming commentators.

Sorry, but skateboarding does not belong in the Olympic Games. Call me an old fart if you must. I was looking at the BBC website this morning and wondered if anyone would have mentioned this here. Watch the video here:- www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/57966611At ~ 30 secs in she falls off! Otherwise all it seemed to be was going back and forward balancing on the rails. How can that be worthy of an Olympic Gold (especially if you fall!)?

Sorry, but skateboarding does not belong in the Olympic Games. Call me an old fart if you must. I'm OK with it. I thought snowboarding was a good addition to the winter Olympics, and I don't really see why skateboarding is any different. I also watched Equestrian Dressage the other day, which is one of the silliest things I've ever seen, and that's been an Olympic sport for over 100 years. We've watched much less athletic events, and much dumber events than skateboarding in the Olympics forever. I don't see why skateboarding shouldn’t be allowed. Now, the addition of break dancing on the other hand...

So, Russia can't compete...but Russian athletes still get to compete as the "Russian Olympic Committe"? So...no real consequences then? If we invade Poland all cry murder, if Russia invades Poland, or Georgia, or the Ukraine...erm, we don't like it, but ok.

So, Russia can't compete...but Russian athletes still get to compete as the "Russian Olympic Committe"? So...no real consequences then? It was a state-sponsored doping program. Can't really block individual competitors who test clean. Athletes competing under the ROC designation cannot wear the Russian flag, or any other national symbol, on their uniforms. If their uniforms say “Russia,” they must also include “neutral athlete” or something equivalent in the same size. When an ROC athlete wins a gold medal, the Russian anthem will not be played. Vitalina Batsarashkina won the ROC’s first gold in Tokyo in the 10m pistol event earlier Sunday. She was serenaded by music from Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, which will also play for other ROC gold medalists. The ROC will be competing instead of Russia at the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February 2022. Russia was also under sanctions for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, where athletes were considered “Olympic Athletes from Russia.” Unless further sanctions are levied, the traditional contingent from Russia, including its flag and anthem, will be back at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Still, losing 3 out of the last 5 games is the worst stretch in the history of U.S. men's basketball. They are an embarrassment.
