As always with the Coverage of the Olympics in Australia - if an Australian isn’t in it and it isn’t gymnastics - good luck watching it.
I’ll stick to clips and highlights on the net mostly.
TBH, this is the least excited I’ve been for an Olympics probably ever…..

Apart from being in lockdown, there's no reason I'd watch this year's olympics.

If it were taking place in my back yard, I’d close the drapes. Like any Olympics.

With the time difference I am not sure what, if anything, I will be able to watch live. I will certainly be watching he highlights in the evening and in the morning.

I only usually bother with the athletics and the swimming.
Stuff like the basketball bores the arse off me.

NBC always butchers their coverage even when they extend it to all the networks they own.
A pity their commentators cannot help themselves and jabber constantly over everything (except maybe for dressage). Heck, they'll even think it necessary to jabber over the cultural program in the opening ceremonies.
But at least the pompous Bob Costas is gone.

Last minute cancellation of the entire Olympics is still in play.

If the Olympics get canceled again, i don`t think we will get a Tokyo Olympics at all, and the next summer Olympics will be in Paris in 2024.

Tokyo 2020 social media teams banned from showing athletes taking the knee IOC and Tokyo 2020 organisers gave instructions on Tuesday Reference made to images from Team GB v Chile football match The International Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020 organisers have banned their social media teams from posting pictures of athletes taking the knee at these Olympic Games, the Guardian can reveal. An insider said the message was delivered from on high on Tuesday evening Tokyo time, with a specific reference to Team GB’s women’s first football match against Chile, just hours before it kicked off in Sapporo on Wednesday. The image of both teams taking the knee beforehand, in a protest against racism and online hate, was seen on live TV and the gesture was then followed by United States and Sweden players as well as those from New Zealand. However none of these powerful pictures were posted on the official Tokyo 2020 live blog, or its Facebook and Twitter pages, or its Instagram site, which has more than half a million followers. They were also not seen on any of the IOC’s social channels. An insider told the Guardian they found the IOC’s stance odd given the organisation celebrates iconic pictures of protest – including Tommie Smith and John Carlos raising their fists to protest against the unfair treatment of black people in the United States at the 1968 Olympics. The decision also comes despite the IOC recently relaxing Rule 50, which had previously forbidden athletes to make any kind of “demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas”. Peaceful protest is now allowed on the field of play, provided it is done without disruption and with respect for fellow competitors. However, sanctions are still threatened for any protests made on the medal podium www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jul/21/tokyo-2020-olympics-social-media-teams-banned-from-showing-athletes-taking-the-knee
