BBC coverage sucks.
Ignoring the pole vault and hammer finals to show some old footage of Kelly Holmes and Ann Packer from nineteen canteen.
FUCK RIGHT OFF!
I wish Michael Johnson would say something.

Kudos to Norwayβs Karsten Warnholm who gave the performance of the games to win the 400m hurdles and destroy his own WR in the process.
45.94s is a decent time for a flat 400m!

That is an unfortunate name! Yeah... it's not quite the actual name, but still kinda funny. If you're dyslexic it works better.

Might be the greatest run of any games, it's almost certainly the greatest race. Benjamin and dos Santos would have won every previous 400m hurdles Olympic title. I can't remember that happening in any other athletics event. What's really unbelievable though is the fact that he looks like he may be able to go even faster. It's moments like that why I fell in love with athletics. Incredible stuff.

Men's volleyball semifinals:
France Argentina
Brazil (defending champions) Russia
Russia beat Brazil by 3-0 twice already this year, including at the group stage last week.

All three medalist would have won every previous Olympics. Incredible stuff we're seeing on the track. Feckin loved this Olympics do far

I didn't have a chance to watch the Park event. Street I thought was fun to watch, although it didn't change my mind about it not belonging in the Olympic Games.

I didn't really get a chance to watch either one, and reading up on how it's been implemented it really seems they could have done a better job with it. But why should it not belong? When bikes, skis, and snowboards are used for Olympic events why not skateboards?

I of course accept it for sports that have a long tradition, such as gymnastics and diving, but as a general rule I would rather have as few as those events as possible.

I get that to a degree, but that's like half of the Olympics. The other new sports were karate and surfing, and those would have the same issue.

De Grasse finally getting a global gold is a lovely moment for him. Knighton looks like the future though. What a talent he is.

Sport climbing anyone? I thought it was a worthy addition to Olympic sports. A reasonable spread of countries are represented at the elite level and there is a mature international competition. The womens knockout phase was fun to watch, with a small level of tension and personal struggle. Janja Garnbrett is a superstar and performed on the night, wiping out the rest of the field in the boulder phase.

You could see the bone poking out of her wist and blood from her mouth. Maybe they should make safety ropes mandatory but it makes for good spectacle.
