One Hundred and One Dalmatians was followed by this after it had already been remade. The Nutty Professor (1963) had a direct-to-video animated sequel in 2008 well after the Eddie Murphy versions.

Halloween - the 2018 film Night of the Living Dead - Land of the Dead Ghostbusters - Afterlife I can't believe I didn't think of Ghostbusters, the most obvious possible answer.

Texas Chainsaw 3D is a direct sequel to the 1974 original in the same sense as Halloween (2018). It is awful btw.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes? Does this count?Death Race 2050 No. Rise of the Planet of the Apes isn't a follow-up to anything. It is a reboot. One of the times that "reboot" is the exact way to describe it. I suppose there might be an argument that it is a prequel to the original, but I think even that is a stretch.

I think the Amityville Horror franchise might be the most confusing franchise. I don't know which movies are actually sequels to the 1979 movie or which movies are just other movies based on the Amityville legend.
I haven't seen Amityville: The Awakening, but it was made after the remake.

Yeah see that’s another thing. I’ve heard Rise Of The Planet of The Apes is just a remake of Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes. So IF it’s a prequel that’s make no sense.

I’m assuming Cobra Kai can count, but that’s a tv show.

That is what I thought the OP meant at first, but he is actually asking for movies that had a remake and then had another sequel to the original movie after the remake. I made the mistake I get annoyed that other people make. I read the title of the thread, but not the specifics.

I guess maybe Evil Dead should count as well. It was remade in 2013 and then a new series two years later that continued the original movies with Bruce Campbell.

They go back in time in the third one and it becomes about how the apes took over. It's a whole predestination paradox thing.

I just didn't know how similar Rise and Conquest were, which is why I assume people say it is basically a remake. That is if I take spooner's word that people do in fact say that.

I actually thought of a rare television example of this. Perry Mason was revived as a short-lived series in the 1970s with an all new cast, and then after it went off the air, the original Perry Mason came back as a series of tv-movies with Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale.
