Kick-Ass
Kick-Ass is a lot of fun. Super and Defendor have their moments, but overall I find these 2 movies depressing.

Kick-Ass “Now switch to Kryptoniiiiiiite!” Yup. Nicolas Cage is a big part of why the movie works as well as it does. It is sort of a Tarantino inspired superhero movie. I need to emphasize how great I think the Big Daddy death scene is. The way it shows hit-girl as a video game character to going to her seeing her father being burned alive. This isn't a game and he has raised her with the idea that it is. This is one of the greatest moments of Nicolas Cage going as OTT as possible. It is funny, but frightening at the same time. All set perfectly to John Murphy's Surface of the Sun. It is a beautiful, visceral, disturbing and very sad scene. What makes it even more brilliant is how unexpected the scene in is in the context of everything that came before. Also inspired by Tarantino and another great scene from the same director. Maybe the greatest scene of the entire X-Men franchise.

Kick-Ass also has a great soundtrack and uses all the music perfectly.

I still need to see Defendor, but I prefer Kick-Ass out of the other two. I like both though.

I haven't seen Defender so I'll refrain from voting, but between Super and Kick-Ass it'd be an easy win for Super. Super is the movie Kick-Ass was supposed to be. Kick-Ass was all of the sophomore humor of the comic, none of the reflective deconstruction. Besides some performances, I pretty much hate it.

Defendor and Super were surely the two I enjoyed the most, and where as Kick-Ass just did not click with me, one bit, expect for the Nicolas Cage performance. Just recently picked up the graphic novel of the latter film, so I might read it soon, and if I like it, maybe give the film another go.
Another one, which kind of has a bit of the same theme/characters, is Bobcat Goldthwait and his black action-comedy God Bless America (2011), which also features a middle aged and not very stable guy, named Frank, who then soon befriends a young female, and yeah, it is probably more closer to Defendor/Super in that way, but worth to check up on, if you enjoyed the latter films.
Defendor and Super comes with a great combination of drama, comedy, violence and also a very impressive cast as well. Both were films I had never heard of, when I picked them up, but they really were more of my kind of vigilante themed entertainment.

Really liked all three. Was a big fan of the Kick-Ass comic, so a real buzz seeing it on the big screen
1. Kick Ass 2. Super 3. Defendor
