A NEW HOPE 9/10-Very inspiring, lots of risk taking, finally breaking off from the usual Hollywood formula of audience manipulation and hate that engulfed all of the pathetic seventies before this.
PREDATOR 8/10-Very original
RETURN OF THE JEDI 7/10 good sauce, but doesn't really stand on its own as an entree.
PLANET OF THE APES 6/10-Iconic more than anything. It was meant to be predictable to a generation where "By the Waters of Babylon" was in every school text book. Plus, since the apes spoke English, that was the same as announcing what was taking place.
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 6/10 Very good action. Doesn't stand alone, and looks more like a serial than a movie. No resolution. Just a continuation.
TERMINATOR 2/10-An idea every writer I ever met had concocted a better story for, using the exact same predictable twist. This "twist" was way too predictable from the start. And other than that, it was just total Hollywood formula.
