Marijuana has a much more enjoyable effect to me and I have no problem at all controlling myself in any way while using it. Alcohol on the other hand goes from semi fun to unpleasant and detrimental far too quickly and in a way that is nearly impossible to determine safely. Marijuana wins by a huge margin.
In others, some novice users of marijuana can be a bit annoying due to being silly. Alcohol users are often not just annoying but violent, disruptive, loud, stupid, extremely sick, and in general ruin not just their own evening but everyone unlucky enough to be around them. These disastrous results are equally likely to happen to novice users as they are disgusting longtime drunks. Again marijuana is the obvious winner by a huge margin.
Society as a whole. Marijuana despite having very little money and resources dedicated to researching it's benefits until fairly recently has saved numerous lives. One benefit I find particularly startling is the use of a strain called Charlotte's Web in treating seizures in adults and children. In countless cases children who were suffering up to HUNDREDS of debilitating seizures a DAY were treated with extract oil from the strain and had seizures reduced to less than a handful or completely stop altogether. These children went from being unable to eat, sleep or interact with others to living a normal life. NOTHING else has had results comparable to the marijuana extract.
Closer to home for me personally is a close friend of my sister who was suffering from a malady doctors could not diagnose. It caused her to be violently ill daily and unable to eat anything substantially. She continued to lose weight until she was down to 80 lbs or less. She was in and out of the hospital and was unable to work. I told my sister she should try marijuana due to it's ability to both increase appetite as well as eliminate nausea. Sadly my state has not legalized even for medical use so I offered to obtain what she needed. In a blessed coincidence another friend of theirs had moved to Colorado at the suggestion of her doctor for the purposes of legally obtaining and using marijuana to alleviate the effects of chemotherapy. Their friend brought edibles to the nausea weight loss patient. She has since began to eat normally again and put on weight for the first time in over a year. She is able to sleep and eat and return on the path to a normal life and weight. She broke down in tears of gratitude to my sister who is a straight edge non drinker or smoker. The friend said it was my sisters recommendation that convinced her to give marijuana a try.
Alcohol meanwhile is responsible for over THREE MILLION DEATHS worldwide yearly. SIX PERCENT of all deaths a year are directly due to booze. Hmmmm which one wins this time? That's right mon. Marijuana wins again.
I will now step off my soapbox and pack myself a bowl. God Bless Us Everyone.
