Not to mention a little shot to death. Maybe Turner made a stop at the pet semetary. r Wait, the dog fucking dies? I thought that was a no no usually especially for a family movie Well it’s an ‘80s family movie so anything goes. But yeah Hooch makes a heroic sacrifice.

Indeed. I remember being equally shocked when I saw it on VHS back in the early 90s. My mother couldn’t believe it, referencing Jim Belushi’s film K9. The epilogue reveals Hooch begat a brood with Vet Mare Winningham’s dog, including a lookalike son. I suppose the dog here is Hooch’s great grandson or something?

From the plot description it sounds like a straight up reboot -
"A buttoned-up U.S. Marshall inherits a drooling junkyard dog and soon realizes the pet he didn't want is the partner he needs."

Well they got the tie, the dog and the background right but while Hanks expression is uncertain/uneasy what is supposed to be Peck's expression? The guy who got the dog despite not wanting him and still tries to smile a bit?

I don't think people were really asking for this. Since when has Disney been concerned about that? (Besides their streaming service, anyway.)

Reminds me of something similar done with the Death Wish remake. ![](http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2018/02/DWKyyvKVwAECJUA.jpg-large-720x1066.jpeg) ![](https://static.rogerebert.com/uploads/movie/movie_poster/death-wish-1974/large_xz69PZkfbDsjZktf1w60sDuvQpo.jpg)

Making me tear up thinking about Hooch dying That scene always make me tear up. Most movies about dogs are like that.

It's not about laughing it's about what their expression is conveying , or should I say ultimately the idea they're trying to sell for the movie.
Just from the title, even if you haven't seen the movie, you get it's gonna be a partnership.
With Hanks, he has this uncertain/unsure look about him that almost make it comical while with Peck, it's like the kid that is forcing himself to smile to please his mom taking a picture of him and the gift he just received but doesn't like.
The fact I can probably get an answer just from looking at the Hanks poster while I have to watch the trailer to figure out what's going on there with the Peck poster is weird.

Cujo is such a sad movie. Especially the opening scene where he gets bitten

True if you're going to be paid millions to look comfortable acting with disgusting dogs then you should look the part no matter how disgusting the dog is. I agree with you on that.
