... the Cleveland Guardians. I give it a 4/10. Sounds like what a team is called in a movie that didn’t get MLB licensing.

It's been 40 years since Stanford dropped the Indians name, and 9 more since they dropped the Indian mascot.

Presumably a reference to Cleveland's "Guardians of Traffic" statues. Whether this makes it good or not, I'm unsure, but at least it's not a random non-license videogame name.

I was unaware this was a thing, though I didn’t read any of the related articles, just saw the headline. How is the traffic situation in Cleveland? Those statues work?

This makes BattleHawks sound like a good name. Apparently it's a reference to statues on the Hope Memorial Bridge. Ok guys, now you're trying waaay too hard. Just be honest, it was the best option to keep -ians as the last part of your name, so the rebranding of your merch will only cost you half as much!

Chicago Blackhawks, you're on the clock. The Chiefs will be the last to go.

“The team formerly known as the Cleveland Indians” would’ve been better imo.
Willing to bet actual Native American people don’t give 2 shits about this.

The XFL's iconic New York franchise is being disrespected here. They've already had this name for their entire history of half a season.

What a stupid name. They should have done something Cleveland specific like Rainmakers, or Rockers.

I wonder if Woketards will go after teams named after Animals after all the 'offensive' racial names are gone. I mean because of animals rights or whatever.

Florida State has expressed permission from Seminole tribal leadership. Different situation altogether. The use should either be considered racist or not regardless of the asking. The asking is nice, but I have to think that Seminole leaders aren't allowing it if they find the use offensive.
