He-Man sucked from Day One, back in the '80s. Hell, all of those '80s 'toons were garbage... He-Man, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, GI Joe... Just toy-selling junk.
Want to know an action cartoon that was actually good?
People actually get KILLED in this show... even in the opening/closing credits.

This show was not as bad as some reviews made it out to be... but yes, Kevin Smith did ruin He-Man.
I'm completely confused why he did it too. I mean, he must have known the reaction that he would have caused by doing what he did. I can't for the life of me understand why he took this direction.

High critic score, ridiculously low audience score, and a post from darkpast... Let me guess, some kinda woman thing happened?

Robot or not, he speaks the truth...The new Masters of the Universe series is junk, pretty looking junk but junk nonetheless, doesn't help that Smith lied about the whole thing to everybody.

So this new Masters of the Universe series should be good for you then, since you and Kevin Smith appear to be in the same line of thinking regarding the property and 1980's properties - however, I have yet to see you lie and pass yourself off as a fan to make some dough though. By the way, these properties that you describe as being 'toy selling junk' are still popular today and inspired a generation of storytellers and artists, those shows, as silly they could be, were also launching pads for many talented writers and artists...He-Man in particular had a writing staff that included the likes of Tom Reugger(of later Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs fame), Paul Dini(Of DC animation and comics fame as well the former story editor of Lost when it made sense), Patrick Sheane Duncan(Later went on to pen the screenplays for Mr. Holland's Opus), and J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI(Creator of Babylon 5, writer of several hit comics and bestselling novels, and wrote the screenplay for Clint Eastwood's Changeling) so give credit where it is due. The creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender were also huge He-Man fans, hence why the grandmother to Katara and Sokka was voiced by She-Ra herself.

It doesn't help that he lied about the series being the exact opposite of what it was, either. He owes ClownfishTV a BIG apology.

Why not wait until the show is complete? Why should I? The damage is already done, I've had my taste and I don't want to continue any further, this is not the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe that I recognize it as being it and even as a new take on the property I cannot find anything worth my investment into it. The original Filmmation show was silly, yes, but it build a foundation that proved to have lasting effect and it has been revisited for a more modern audience but remaining true to its characters and mythology - The early 00's series was a fantastic retelling and had great writing, the DC Comics revival was pretty good as well, it is not an impossible task to revive this property and treat it with more respect.

Spot on, original Jonny Quest was a legit good series, I probably didn't watch the 80s version.
I do have a soft spot for Thundarr the Barbarian, which was a one season ripoff of He-Man. "Ooklah! We Ride!"

Thundarr came out before He-Man and the Master's of the Universe.

Thundarr came out before He-Man and the Master's of the Universe. Good. So many times I heard it called a He Man ripoff I assumed it was true. That explains why it has more in common with 70s-80s post apoc types movies, basically post-apoc Conan. Note, I've never seen a single episode of He Man and have no idea what it's about.
