1. Clearly they're trying to do for Exorcist what those recent Halloween films did for Halloween.
2. Do we really need a trilogy?
3. I feel like Ellen's appearance is going to be similar to Jason Miller's appearance in Exorcist III.

She's 88 now, will be 90 by 2023. How long do they expect to keep her?

The Exorcist is one of the most frightening films ever made, but it's of its time. Audiences have come through several decades of slasher movies, so if they are counting on getting the same reaction today that they got in 1973, they are going to be disappointed.
The original film was about the triumph of good over evil through the sacrifice of Damien Karris. Religion, particularly the Catholic religion, has taken a beating over the last fifty years. There may not be a sufficient audience that will want to see a repeat of that motif and will want a far more ambiguous ending, or one that falls heavily in favor of Satan triumphant, which has become the standard for these types of movies.
What also puts me off is the idea of a "continuation.," In effect, turning The Exorcist into an unending Satanic soap opera like they did with Alien and the holiday slasher films. Thank you, but I opt out.

How many more reboots of The Exorcist is necessary? It was a one and done story, it spawned two sequels, one prequel, one redux of the prequel, a TV series, and even a spoof.

I bet they are saving Blair for the sequels as a flimsy marketing hook. Because they are using Burstyn while they still can. They can use Blair at their pleasure. That sounds perverted but this whole thing is perversion so...
I guess they are going to find Kitty Winn for one of the sequels also.
The Lindsey of the Exorcist franchise.

Technically Star Wars was not rebooted per se, and Batman and X-Men have decades worth of reimaging's in the media so reboots are not uncommon.

They should've stopped at the original trilogy, enough said.

She's 88 now, will be 90 by 2023. How long do they expect to keep her? Hey, William Shatner is 90 and just went to space. Mel Brooks is 95 and just signed on to produce/write a sequel variety series to his film "History of the World Part 1" for Hulu. Burstyn is young by comparison. Plus she is still currently acting.

David Gordon Green will direct all three films. Which is honestly what I'm looking forward to the most. Exorcist sequels or remakes don't really appeal all that much to me. However, I'm a big fan of Green's work, so I'll definitely check them out. Hope he brings Danny McBride in like he did with Halloween.

Hopefully they don't beat the hell out of her on the set like they did in the original.
