I've Been Trying to Tell You - a dreamy return to the sample-heavy sounds of their first two albums

I heard of this band before. I thought their music didn't suck.

Sarah's solo album "Red Kite" is a cracker too, the track "Rag Doll" is one of my all time favourite songs. (bizarrely there's no YouTube video!). "Tales From Turnpike House" may be the best thing they ever did.

Etienne haven't released a bad album IMO, but Tiger Bay is probably my personal favorite.

Have not got a physical copy yet, but have given it a couple of listens on YouTube and it could be their most confronting release yet.
Cold, minimal, alien, atmospheric, experimental. Songs are abstract and linear made from eerie ambience and skipping samples. Massive Attack’s Mezzanine is one comparison that comes to mind.
Almost completely devoid of the overt pop hooks and Sarah’s upfront, sweetly melodic vocals - which have always been a crucial part of most of their major releases - this is by far their least pop-centric outing yet. While pop-smarts have always been their ace, this is a fascinating direction that I’m glad they explored.
Favorite track so far - "Fonteyn"
