So this was the big announcement this week - a limited series spinoff for Peacock with Lisa Rinna returning as Billie. I think this sounds interesting but not sure why it couldn't have just been done on the show. I guess Days has taped so far in advance that this is a way to add things earlier without impacting the show. Curious how they will incorporate these story arcs into the show. They mention the Last Blast crew reunion happenings on Days even though it all happened online. I don't think Peacock is available in Canada so doubt I will be able to watch this anyway. ‘Days of Our Lives’ Gets Peacock Limited Series With Lisa Rinna Reprising Role

Sorry I missed your post on this Leafs! I posted one as well! LOL! I’m just glad that NBC is definitely onboard with keeping the show on the air since I have heard that it is doing really well for the Peacock streaming platform. I’m also looking forward to seeing characters that aren’t currently on the show. I’m guessing that Carrie and Austin as well as Will and perhaps Sonny (maybe a recast since Freddie Smith has no interest in returning to acting anymore). I’ll check it out as long as it’s part of the free streaming.

I wonder what they will do with Sonny since Freddie doesn't want to come back. I am curious to see Chad interact in a setting that seems less trauma-filled for him. I guess we will see Austin and Carrie in Zurich. I wonder which Austin it will be!
I think so many people do not have cable or a DVR anymore, and streaming is how so many people watch TV. This makes sense that Days is doing well on Peacock.
I only have a basic cable package with a DVR and it was only because my telecom provider offered me CHEAPER unlimited internet if I took the cable package with it so I did, otherwise I wouldn't have cable. I seldom watch anything live except the news and sports. I also hardly watch any network shows anymore. Everything on network is reality TV or stupid game shows and I have no interest in those things. We share across our family households accounts for multiple streamers that seem to cover all the bases. There are several streaming platforms that are not available here like Hulu and Peacock. The pandemic was good for catching up on stuff but now that real life is sort of getting back to normal my TV time has drastically fallen.

So looks like Eileen Davidson is joining the Beyond Salem spinoff along with a recast Sonny! Eileen Davidson's Returning to Days - but Who Will She be Playing? The cast of the upcoming Days of Our Lives spinoff continues to grow by the hour… to the point that we’re beginning to wonder how they’ll all be squeezed into a five-episode series! The latest news has Eileen Davidson appearing… although it remains to be seen as who. Days fans of course recall that Davidson played Kristen DiMera from 1993 to 2017, at which point Stacy Haiduk assumed the role. But they’ll also recall that during Davidson’s iconic run she played Kristen’s doppelganger Susan Banks, Sister Mary Moira Banks, Thomas Banks and Penelope Kent! Several years after leaving Days, she returned to the role of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless, which she has played on-and-off since creating the part in 1982. News of Davidson’s Beyond Salem stint leaked when Lisa Rinna (Billie) posted a photo of the actress sitting in the makeup room of the soap, captioning it “Look who I found!” Later, Davidson posted to her own Instagram feed, confirming that she was “beyond excited” to be joining the show, although not specifying who she might be playing. Although no release date has yet been announced for Beyond Salem, it will be airing not on NBC but the network’s affiliated streaming service, Peacock. Storyline wise, we know it will follow the adventures of several Salem couples who, as the title implies, have left town for various reasons only to find themselves united in the search for stolen gems which, if not recovered, could have devastating consequences on their beloved home town. Among those already revealed to be taking part are Robert Scott Wilson (Ben), Victoria Konefal (Ciara), Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Hogestyn (John), Sal Stowers (Lani), Lamon Archey (Eli) and Billy Flynn (Chad). It’s also been announced that Chandler Massey will return as Will, although he’ll be playing opposite a new love interest as Freddie Smith’s Sonny will be played by Zachary Atticus Tinker (formerly The Young and the Restless’ Fenmore).

And also Christie Clark is back as Carrie, and dull bore Austin Peck as Austin.

I’m more excited about this mini-series than the actual show itself. As much as Carrie is loved by the fans of the show, she’s always played second fiddle to Sami. Carrie should be back full time on the show. Problem is, Austin Peck is boring in the role. Patrick Muldoon was really good in the role initially but seemed creepy when he returned in 2011. I also didn’t care for her pairing with Mike Horton. He was too old for her and their chemistry seemed forced. But, Christie and Austin still look great from their Instagram photo and hopefully he’s gotten better as an actor. Seems like a nice guy though.
I’m really looking forward to Sonny being recast. Freddie just wasn’t doing a good job when he returned to Days and his chemistry with Chandler wasn’t there anymore. I’m hearing that they’re characters are returning to Days as well with Atticus continuing as Sonny. Now we just need to have the reveal that Bonnie is really Adrienne and has been faking it to protect her family. Crossing fingers for that one.
But the biggest excitement for me is Eileen returning to portray hopefully Kristen. I’m sure it’s just for Beyond Salem, but at least it’s better than never getting her back.

I never really cared for Carrie, she was always boring to me. But I agree she should be on the show. I also agree Patrick Muldoon is way better as Austin but yes, mildly creepy when he was all wrapped up in the Abby nonsense. I like Austin Peck is awesome in real life but for some reason he is just a big bore on screen. I don't think he has chemistry with Christie or with Alison either. I am super excited about Eileen. I mean, who else could she play at this point but I guess if they brought her on as someone other than Kristen that's ok too. I'm glad they have recast Sonny as well, and I hope this NuSonny is a good actor. I think it will be good to have Will on screen with both of his parents too. Speaking of Bonnie/Adrienne, Soaps.com posted about a fan theory regarding Bonnie really being Adrienne so now I feel like this is definitely going to happen soaps.sheknows.com/days-of-our-lives/news/605551/days-of-our-lives-could-bonnie-really-be-adrienne/I am looking forward to all of this as well. Part of me is mad they are going to all this trouble for the web series - why not just do this for the actual show? I am hopeful the stories will connect or spill over to the series but who knows at this point.

I am hopeful the stories will connect or spill over to the series but who knows at this point. . Who knows what they’re thinking these days? But I’m sure it’s to get more people to watch the Peacock streaming network and to watch Days on there. From what I hear, Stacy Haiduk will resume playing Kristen on the show. Perhaps they’re working on bringing Billie, Carrie, Austin, Will and Sonny full time? I think there are currently several cast members on the show that are dead weight. Claire is leaving and so is Theo. Now, take Ava, Rafe, Gwen, and any other useless characters and send them on their way.

Hopefully it all merges somehow. We will just have to wait and see.
I agree there is a lot of dead weight. Some people we only see once or twice a month, like Justin and Bonnie. If Jennifer is not coming back sadly, I don't see the point of Jack unless they bring Billie on for him since they used to be friends, didn't they?

I completely forgot about Billie and Jack. Sad thing is that they’re really not using Matthew Ashford very much anymore. It’s sad because he’s a very talented actor and has been burned so much in the past by the show. I blame a lot of that on former writers who made him act like a complete buffoon. I even disliked him a lot when he was just played for stupid humor. But they really need to address some loopholes now. There’s no explanation about Jennifer, Hope or Sarah. These were three leading actresses on Days and the fans deserve closure on their characters.

I agree, they need to address those holes. Hope can't have that much bad luck that her plane is always malfunctioning. It also makes ZERO sense that now that Ciara is alive, she wouldn't come back to Salem.
Frankly just recast Hope or say she met a man and is travelling the world. They can be on cruises like Doug and Julie always used to do.
I'm not sure why Jennifer was only temporary? Cady was doing a great job, why not bring her back? I would like some resolution for Sarah as well, just recast her too! And also what will happen with Abigail? Is Marci coming back after a mat leave?

Apparently, Marci is coming back to the show after her maternity leave is up. She may even be back filming again according to some sources on that DR site. I really wish that Kate would return. Especially since it doesn’t appear that she’s doing anything else in show biz right now. I get it that these young actors and actresses want to break out from daytime but it’s not easy. Alison Sweeney even manages daytime and lifetime movie gigs.
As for Jennifer, I think that tptb were waiting to see what Missy Reeves was going to do. If she doesn’t return, I agree that Cady is a wonderful replacement. I actually like her better than Missy.
Regarding Hope, I know she is a Days Of Our Lives legend but without Bo, there’s really not much for her to do and just being Mom to Shawn and Ciara is not worth the salary they’d have to pay Kristian. So, I agree that she should take Doug and Julie’s spot on that cruise ship around the world.
And, I’m okay with a Sarah recast. I liked Lindsey, but I’m sure there’s plenty of other capable actresses to continue with the role. I like having her character around because she makes Xander more interesting and it’s important to have legacy Hortons on the show.
Hopefully they will address all of this in the coming months. Broken planes and handling estates can only satisfy the audience for so long.

I also heard about Eileen playing Kristen as well. This will be a great new breath of fresh air for the show. They really need to make some big changes and shake things up a bit. I see glimmers of hope but usually end up disappointed.
Oh, and I heard that Beyond Salem will air in Canada in a couple of different platforms. So I hope you get to see it.

I agree, the show need some freshness. I hope this really helps!
Yes I just read that one of our networks is picking it up on their app and then airing on cable on the W Network, which is basically a network that airs all Hallmark movies lol Fine by me, just glad I will be able to watch!

Hopefully it’ll give us some good stuff to talk about. I love how this miniseries is really going to concentrate on some great characters. I’m also so glad that Will is coming back. He really intermingles with Sami and Lucas so well. I’m also looking forward to see if he gets any screen time with EJ. Their relationship boarded on uneasy. A little creepy. But I’m also hoping that he has great chemistry with the new Sonny. Hopefully it’ll refresh this couple because they became a snore fest together.

Yeah I really didn't care for Sonny and Will much so hoping this gives them a boost for sure.
Is Will coming back FT after the miniseries?

I believe that Will and Sonny both will be returning to the legacy show. Freddie Smith and his Wife talked about it extensively on their YouTube show. He was actually offered to return before the recast but turned it down. He wasn’t sure if he made the right decision because he said that he loved the show and his supporting cast members but that he didn’t want to commit. Especially because it looked like a full time return.

Cool. I know Freddie is not really interested in acting anymore so make sense he decided not to return.
I think a recast will help. I also think they should recast Sarah and even Eric.
