Are we living in the golden age of television? Many of the tv shows people consider the best or most popular ever made are still airing or have concluded recently. Examples are (not my personal opnion): - Atlanta - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Better Call Saul - Breaking Bad - Fargo - Hannibal - House of Cards - Game of Thrones - Mr. Robot - Narcos - Outlander - Person of Interest - Sherlock - Stranger Things - Suits - The Americans - The Handmaiden's Tale - The Leftovers - Vikings - Westworld
Or do you like the older tv shows more, for example: The 90s: - The Sopranos - The West Wing - Freaks and Geeks - Futurama - Spaced - Oz - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Friends - The X-Files - Batman: The Animated Series - Twin Peaks The 80s: - The Simpsons - Seinfeld - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Only Fools and Horses...

I prefer the 90s. Buffy, Angel, Xena, The X-Files, Hercules, Millennium, Oz etc.

I think so.
I have never had a the problem of too many good shows to watch like I'm having it now.
I do miss old school sitcoms though. Nothing is as funny as Friends or Frasier or Roseanne anymore.

Yes we do
But i do think sitcoms was generally better in the past that what it is today.
But there are good tv shows and bad tv shows from every decade.

Yes, clearly!
basically once The Sopranos(1999-2007) came along is when TV was capable of rivaling top quality movies. before that it simply did not happen.
p.s. for me when it comes to TV shows it's pretty much 2000-ish to date and when it comes to movies i consider the golden age the 1990's to date overall as the vast majority of my favorite movies are from the 1990's to date.

Every year or so it seems like a new show pushes the limits of what television can do. So yes.

for dramas yes. for comedies, maybe, but certainly not traditional sitcoms
i would consider Seinfeld more 90s, and Cheers as 80s
Its probably has do with mainstream movies being so bad in the last decade, the stuff people consider as good are no classics like Alien. The best creative people are in tv.

Sopranos are more in the 2000 than in the 90s.
So yes.
And Seinfeld or Cheers feels very dated now, and Curb is more my thing. Curb is what Larry David couldn't do with Seinfeld for obvious reasons.

I voted yes but one could argue it is also the age of tasteless, superficial, lowest-common-denominator programming as well!
I submit as evidence.

Nope. The Wall Street studios have eaten away the mid to low budget movie business so writers of any talent have to retreat to television. But it is the same theme of "white man failure." The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones-it is all the same theme. And so many serials.
They had the same agenda back in the early 70s but it was much less obvious-and they still employed a lot of Western Europeans in front and behind the camera. What a concept--a medium invented by Western Europeans and they no longer use Western Europeans as the main staff.
Definitely not the golden age for those who can compare it to earlier times.

How's that tinfoil hat thing working out for ya? Much better than the one sticking up your ass. You should try removing it now and then so you can see clearly. The "white man failure" theme is real. Only a moron can't see it. I wasn't speaking of you specifically.

The "white man failure" theme is real. Only a moron can't see it. This conspiracy exists only in your deluded imagination. You people would be hilarious if you weren't so pathetically insecure that you have to make this crap up. I based my beliefs on evidence. Got any? No, you don't.
