There are a few but honestly, and I'm a Giants fan, I've never seen anyone more overrated than Tim Lincecum. He had a solid first four full seasons in the majors, the rest of his career was below average.
But people speak of this guy like he's a future HOFer. He will never be in the Hall. There are other guys who won two cy youngs who don't get the admiration this guy does (Santana, Saberhagen, McClain). I honestly don't get it. Its like he won the 2 Cys and people forget how crappy he was after.

Who speaks of Lincecum as a HOFer? No one. But he sure looked like a first ballot HOFer for a while. I never heard a plausible explanation as to why his velocity fell off the face of he Earth. Yeah, he was as thin as a promise but he never had a serious injury.

He is viewed as this baseball God. Yet he was never the best player playing. Is he a hall of famer? Of course. Was he the best player ever like the media played? No.
Anything he did got overplayed. He was more a star than anything.

I think it was Alex Rios who was rumoured to be dealt early on from the Jays for Lincecum yet the Giants I believe backed off 11th hour. 2 young studs at that time, & the Jays could never find a promising arm & they'd ever had was young bats. CC Sabathia gets my vote here btw. I suppose he was merely our most recent Sutton or Blyleven.

Guess I have to go with Mike Mussina. Fortunate to always pitch on winning teams. How would his numbers look if he was in Pittsburgh? Same with Whitey Ford. Hell, I could have won 200 games pitching for those Yankees teams. Okay, I couldn’t have. But Junkballer Ford wouldn’t have come within 100 miles of Cooperstown pitching anywhere else

Sometimes you need to take your vacation, personal days and sick days for the betterment of the team
