So it looks like its possible that directors such as Robert Zemeckis. Matthew Vaughn and even Sam Raimi are on the shortlist for The Flash (Lucky Ezra Miller!). Any of those guys would be great for it, obviously. But...
...Y'know what else I was thinking? Superman MOS 2! What if the negotiations for these guys didn't work out for Flash, so instead they decided to work on the Superman sequel!?
AND what if Aaron Sorkin, who was supposed to be taking meetings with both Marvel and DC, decided to work on Superman!?!
Can you imagine a Superman movie directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Aaron Sorkin! I'm having an accident in my pants just thinking about it!!!

Zemeckis or Raimi would be pretty awesome. I'm less impressed with Matt Vaughn.

These things rarely pan out. It's usually more a case of the studio leaking "big names" to make the job seem more desirable. I remember when MCU said they wanted Brad Pitt for THOR.

I'm not sure if Zemeckis could do the action required for a Flash movie, but I could be wrong. I think Raimi is the best option here.
He probably isn't very fond of Marvel either because for some reason most hard-core MCU fans hate him. DC could be his alternative.

Well I think Raimi dropped out, I'd be fine with both Vaughn or Zemeckis. Vaughn's style is fairly youthful, like a sleeker Guy Ritchie, so he'd fit well with Flash.....however I'm curious to see what Zemeckis would do in this genre, but then again I don't know if he has the touch anymore. And going back to Vaughn I'd still like to see what he would do with superman.

Now that you mentioned it, Robert Zemeckis would be pretty cool for a Superman movie.

And they'll all stick around for maybe two weeks before being run off by the studio interfering with whatever vision they have.

i bet he does. Oh good one! I see what you did there. Nice.
But seriously, why not? he may not be the best director in the world but he certainly has more experience directing than some of the shmoes getting big budget movies nowadays.
The guy directing Thor 3 has only directed one movie and it was a low budget movie no one saw! The guy who directed Jurrassic World... same thing! And he's moving on to direct Star Wars for christs sake.
At least Smith has made a whole bunch of movies and knows superheroes as well as anyone.
EDIT: I stand corrected. Taika Waititi, director of Thor 3, has directed four movies before Thor 3. Apologies.
However, I think my point still holds true in the sense that none of those movies were big budget action adventures with huge FX sequences, and none were big hits. They were all low budget comedies with just above the production value of what anyone could shoot in their backyard with a pro-sumer level camera. No offense intended to Waititi, but it just makes me wonder what in his resume made them think he could direct this big a movie?

Taila Waititi directed four feature movies before Thor 3.

They're just the latest in a long line of directors who have taken the job and then were chased off by WB. Zack Snyder, David Ayer, Patty Jenkins and Matt Reeves weren't chased off by WB. But the same can't be said for poor old Affleck, who dropped out of The Batman, but he's still playing batman though. James Wan wasn't chased away either, in fact he's already shooting Aquaman. But, The Flash has already lost two directors, and I don't think it can afford to lose a third one either.

Hmm, I like the idea of Raimi but I would love him to make more horror movies instead.
