How about Ride Like A Girl? Aussie film about Michelle Payne riding the winner in the Melbourne Cup. Not at all subtle but I made it to the end without retching.

I didn't care for MDB. People act like it's some kind of masterpiece but I found it to be kinda boring. LOTO is alright but nothing to interesting. Invincible is a good sports film. And it's based on a true story. Friday Night Lights is decent too. Invincible is one of the best sports movies ever made.
Own it. Love it.
Give it a watch once a year or so.
Probably time for another watch since the NFL is starting up.....
Yeah, it is a very good movie, I would have a few sports movies rated higher than Invincible but it's good film.
I was thinking of watching Any Given Sunday just to see if Pacino can pull it off. I just can't picture him as a football coach. Have you seen it?

Haven't seen it -
Need to give it a watch
Think this voice over is from that movie
When Pacino starts talking at 1:08 of this clip - it always gave me chills -

Pretty good speech. But if Pacino is not playing a gangster I lose interest. Lol

Also as a cop in 'Heat'
2 of my favorite movies
'Righteous Kill' with Robert De Niro is a guilty pleasure of mine - another cop

Of the two, I would suggest "A League of Their Own". A very cute comedy. The other one is a depressing drama.

Didn't want to offend anybody
But I guess there's no getting around
I just don't enjoy women's sports.
I find them rather cringe worthy However am in the mood for new movies
Love sports. Love Tom Hanks, love the crank old man version of Clint Eastwood, love baseball and boxing and have enjoyed Hilary Swank in movies
I just don't know if I could be able to sit through watching Geena Davis chew tobacco and try and get a strikeout
Was just curious if they are sports movies or more drama and how realistic the sports action was
Maybe I'll get them going later - searching for new movies right now.......

Sports realism obviously is not actually your priority (Rocky/the Natural) ... but might I suggest some of the excellent entries into the sports movie pantheon from the good folks at the Hallmark Channel? Love on the Sidelines for instance, which co-stars Joe Theisman, might be just what you're looking for. Or Taking a Shot at Love in which an aging NY Rangers star learns about love and community when the team sends him to northern Connecticut to rehab his injury by training with a ballet instructor. Or perhaps if realism is of great importance maybe 2021's Two For the Win, in which a Hallmark Channel staple and actual former competitive downhill skier portrays a champion ski racer toward the end of his career preparing one of the biggest events of his life which just so happens to be where he grew up and when his childhood girlfriend teaches skiing at the hometown resort. These might be right up your alley.

Hopefully they're as good as 'The Nine Lives of Christmas' starring Superman - one of my favorite Christmas movies

Few are as good as that one. That's always on the list of Hallmark's best liked movies. I thought it proved that what's-her-face would have made a good Lois Lane.

I think you mean you don't enjoy women playing typically men only sport. If so, you might want to give a women running movie a try, Personal Best. You will even get a lesbian love scene if you are into that.

What about Miracle? Based on a true story, too.

I saw Any Given Sunday and it is a good movie. Pacino was actually quite good in this but he smokes a cigar in this movie. lol...
You don't see very many coaches puffing on stogies anymore. But overall, it's not bad, probably worth a look. It has a very nostalgic feel to it, with former players and coaches playing different roles in the movie. Would have been a lot better if they could have gotten the rights to use actual team names. And I didn't notice this before but Oliver Stone directed this film. One thing that was strange about it is the way Stone shot it, it almost feels like a realty TV show filmed by the actors themselves. Like someone is simply using a hand held camera or something. Not sure if its a formatting issue or what, but you do see a lot of close up shots in this movie, really not sure why Stone shot it in this fashion. Also, there is a very awkward nude scene in it. lol.. you'll probably laugh when you see this.
Anyhow.. I still give it a 6.8 out of 10. If you want to check it out, it's free (with ads) on Tubitv.com right now. But it is a long film, 2 1/2 hours run-time but at least the ads are short, like 2-3 minutes. It does expire in 8 days, which means it won't be available after that time frame, although there might be some other free movie sites showing it. So, let me know what you think if you get a chance to watch it.
