Nehemiah Persoff turns 102 today!! Born in Jerusalem in 1919, with a career spanning 55 years, he's one of our superb character actors, with a tapestry of roles that have enriched our film history. After he retired from acting in 2003, he became a painter. A life well lived, to be sure.
One the Waterfront (1954) in an uncredited cameo.
Al Capone (1959)
Some Like it Hot (1959) The Comancheros (1961) Yentl (1983)
With Thia, his wife of 70 years.
An example of is art.
Happy 102nd Birthday to a wonderful actor and a man with a heart of gold. Thanks for the memories, Nehemiah. May you have a glorious day!

Always liked him. He's in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes, Judgment Night. Got a glimpse of him on an Untouchables rerun just yesterday.

Amazing. Here he is in one of two appearances he made on Barney Miller as Yacov Berger, Hassidic diamond merchant (he also did a third episode as Carl Simms in the episode 'The Ghost'): A wonderful characterization in two of the show's funniest installments. Good to know he's still with us and doing so well!

He racked up 206 film credits between 1948 and 2003 and lived the Actor's Dream. He was never out of work.
Thanx, Mr. Persoff, it was always a pleasure to see you.
