This mile may be green, but lean it ain't. At three hours long, it definitely feels like it. Fine performances from Tom Hanks and the underrated David Morse. It was Michael Clarke Duncan who got an Oscar nomination, unfortunately guilty of the "Magical Negro" trope; frankly, I really don't know how to feel about his performance. Whether it be Duncan's abilities as an actor or how the character is meant to be portrayed, some moments are pretty iffy. Doug Hutchinson as Percy Wetmore, who later claimed fame to marrying a 16 year old when he was 51, is the kind of evil prick audiences love to hate. Hell, even future Oscar winner Sam Rockwell plays it so over the top, it makes Jack Nicholson's Joker a masterclass in subtlety.
2.5 out of 4

8/10. Probably my second favorite Stephen King movie after The Shawshank Redemption. Though it may be tied with Stand By Me.

I really liked it, as long as it may be. The late Michael Clarke Duncan gives a tremendous performance, as does the rest of the cast.

Good and well made movie. Not sure why I’m supposed to feel sorry for that murderer Delacroix though

Good and well made movie. Not sure why I’m supposed to feel sorry for that murderer Delacroix though Well at least the movie didn't specify what he was guilty of, unlike the book. The book made it a lot harder to feel sympathy for him.

10/10.
An absolute masterpiece. And I'm not a fan of prison dramas in general. An intense, captivating and deeply moving tale with some shocking moments.

10/10. Both Green Mile and Shawshank are flawless.
