I'm not saying this is a good or a bad thing but:
For they most part, in episodes 7 and 8 and rogue 1 they never show ships just flying around. They do, but only if they're running away from another ship, or having a space battle.
Except for the beginnings of episodes 7 and 8. And only one part in rogue one, i think it's about 1 hour 30 in where
"There is exactly one moment of poetry --a shot of X-wings coursing through a monsoon, their engines illuminating the needle spray of raindrops in front of them."
However in the first 6 films, they seemed to do that all the time. Or at least way more.
I could be wrong, could be remembering wrong.

There’s a scene in Rogue One. The planet of Jeddah, there’s some small transport ships going up to a Star Destroyer. But you’re right. I can’t think of too many scenes that show ships flying around as part of society. In the other 2 trilogies you see more of that.

Well ya, i think the thing is also: You don't really notice it with the new films. Because in the old films they had different ships throughout each film and it was the spectacle of seeing the special effects of it. But with the new films that doesn't work because no one is impressed with anything anymore, and they re use ships we've already seen without adding any new ones.
