One of the most graceful runners ever. One of the greatest work ethics too. She's never possessed the raw power or rangey leg stride of some of her competitors, so she's worked tirelessly on perfecting technique. It's made her an incredibly versatile runner and a constant threat in big races. She might not come first, but she's always ready to strike for a place on the podium, and always a danger.

I was glad Shaunae won that race (and successfully defended her title yesterday too) but Felix is unquestionably a legend who should be held in the very top echelon of athletes who've ever lived.

Allyson Felix was clearly delighted to snatch another medal. I saw her at the end trying to catch some breath while laid out on the track.

Allyson Felix has made history today by winning a gold medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay event. This is her 7th Olympic gold and her 11th Olympic medal (Paavo Nurmi, the 'Phantom Finn', won 12 Olympic medals in athletics). With this victory, Felix eases past her compatriot Carl Lewis in the all-time list, having now won the most track medals of any U.S. athlete.
11 Medals : Trending on Twitter
The USA team were dominant, keeping an exceptional Polish quartet at bay while taking the top spot in style. The Poles took silver, with the Jamaican relay team taking bronze.
This victory will be especially sweet for Felix as she was running with her training partner Sydney McLaughlin.
"TOKYO — Allyson Felix has won her 11th Olympic medal, making her the most decorated American Olympian in track and field, surpassing the 10 medals won by Carl Lewis. A stacked team of Sydney McLaughlin, Felix, Dalilah Muhammad and Athing Mu won the gold medal on Saturday night in the 4x400-meter relay, continuing an American winning streak in the event that has been unbroken since 1996. The American team was full of luminaries, present and future. McLaughlin, who turned 22 on Saturday, and Muhammad, 31, joined forces after going head-to-head this week in the final of the 400-meter hurdles, a classic race in which McLaughlin edged Muhammad at the line to break her own world record. Mu, a 19-year-old phenomenon from New Jersey, had won the 800 meters with a dominant performance days before. And there was Felix, of course, the grande dame of United States track and field, just one day removed from winning the bronze in the 400 meters. Felix, 35, has said that these will be her final Olympics, and she ensured that they were memorable."
