When discussing sequels superior to the original, this one definitely enters the conversation. To be fair, it doesn’t take much to trump the original which is fucking awful. James Gunn brings much of the same energy brought to his other superhero movies, while earning that R rating. The film is to right to embrace its lunacy and is often quite funny. Especially memorable is our heroes realizing they didn’t need to kill about a dozen people for a rescue.

A lot of fun. Most everything works for me here, with just some of the humor missing the mark. I think the movie is clever, beautiful and even sweet in it's own nutty way. The scene with the flowers flowing out and the animated birds when Harley Quinn is killing everybody to the scene where she stabs Starro through the eye and into a pool of water within. It is a wonderful cinematic moment. The colors in this movie pop and Starro just by design alone is one of the best DC movie villains imo. I wish the backstories were a little less cliche, but they serve their purpose in terms of the big silly movie they are in. This isn't meant to be high art. I think my favorite scene is when Presidente General Silvio Luna thinks he understands Harley Quinn, but he doesn't at all and it gets him killed. I knew that was coming the moment he asked her to marry him.

So I know I’m gonna be in the minority, but I actually liked the first one better. Yes, it was a mess, but it was an entertaining mess. I missed Will Smith a lot in the 2nd one. The first one also had a darker melodramatic feel that I missed in the 2nd one. I couldn’t really feel the characters or their motivations in the 2nd one while in the first one I did. Harley’s character arc was severely lacking. In the first one we know what drove her and saw into her character. Her character arc in the 2nd one was unfulfilled and light at best.

Just watched it....thought it was great! It's the exact type of R rated violence and humor this title needed. The characters for the most part are solid. As a comic book fan i cared about so many characters in this movie i had never heard of. The relationships between the various characters was really cool. The plot is pretty much straight up, but a few twists and turns as to be expected. The 'villain' was surprisingly creepy and also sympathetic. Almost every character had a turn to really shine. Harleys probably being the best. But at this point Margot Robbie really knows that character and this is probably my favorite example of her in this role. She's such a gracious brute.
If you enjoyed films like Guardians of the Galaxy or the Deadpools...this is right up your alley.

This is Harleys third film so it makes sense she's kind of who she needs to be already. Bloodsport, Polka Dot Man and even King Shark get a lot of the growth in this one. I'd say Flagg gets a lot of growth too but it's probably just more of us actually getting to know him better in this one.

I usually loathe films like this but it was so unapologetically stupid and humourous that you could forgive it. Better than 99% of this sort of popcorn fodder.

There are no arcs, no motivations, no semblance of a story. Just a two hour music video for the concept. I though the first one was bad, this was absolutely terrible. Not one redeeming quality, not a single joke landed and none of the action sequences were enjoyable.

HBO Max wouldn’t let me pick up where I left off so I just quit halfway through. (Gotta love them streeeaaaming services!) And it’s just as well. This movie was not for me.
The first ten minutes are so gratuitously gory and mean spirited that I lost interest almost instantly. Killing characters in sadistic ways for shock and “humor(?)” doesn’t increase the stakes or intensity it makes you stop caring because why invest in characters who may be offed without any emotion at any moment? And man, James Gunn’s sense of humor can be obnoxious AF. I am not looking forward to Guardians 3.

Except that it's not a sequel, but I agree. It's better than the predecessor and a lot of fun too. Like thebayharborbutcher said, I also kind of missed Will Smith being in this one even though Idris Elba nailed his role and character.

After watching Agent Carter, I like the idea of a hardboiled, noir version set in the 1930s or 50s.
