Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) Always loved this chilling and very unsettling opening theme/credits. Very effective and set the mood for the rest of the film. The whole minimalistic doomsdays synths and feel, makes up for a "You know something special is going to take place", and it just hits you right from the very go. I love that about these kind of early 80s horrror and sci-fi relases, such as The Thing, Videodrome and so on, creepy, and atmospheric stuff.
Thief (1981) One of the coolest movie openings during the 80s. Love the pulsating and driven score by Tangerine Dream, the rain, the lightning and yeah, again, it perfectly sets up for the rest of the film.
The Dead Zone (1983) While not as creepy as Videodrome (released the same year), still this fine David Cronenberg film, comes with one of my most favorite opening credits, and has more of a sad/beautiful theme to it, but as usual, one which kind of reveals that it is not gonna be a "straight forward" ride.
