Robot Carnival is an anthology anime movie consisting of 9 shorts from the minds of masters such as Katsuhiro Otomo, of “Akira” fame. It is a great movie that is free to view on YouTube. I’m not going to link it cause I trust you’re all big, beautiful boys who can find it for yourselves. Good boys.

I really like the animation but I didn't care for all the segments that much. I liked Starlight Angel despite being corny and when I saw it again I enjoyed Cloud, but the others were a bit workman-like for me. I had similarly mixed feelings about Neo Tokyo but I liked Memories better. I still feel that it's good enough that many will disagree and don't want to dismiss the people with a more positive take but it's a 6 out of 10 for me.

It's a classic anime anthology. I love how dialogue is kept to a minimum throughout. It lets the visuals tell the story.

I like the Meiji era robot battle vignette and the ending/opening sequences the most. The rest are meh, but in terms of animated anthology movies it’s one of the best I’ve seen.

I can see how you'd like the Meiji robot battle one. That had some good humor. Which animated anthologies have you seen? I've seen a few. I'll list the ones I can recall, minus the live action movie spinoffs. Anime Anthologies: Metamorphoses Robot Carnival Neo Tokyo Memories Genius Party Genius Party Beyond Short Peace Musical non Japanese: Fantasia Fantasia 2000 Allegro non troppo Opera Imaginaire Non-Musical Animation non/anime: Fears of the Dark Heavy Metal Extraordinary Tales
