I haven't seen anything JCVD has made since the 90s, so I am not much aware of career arc except that he went into DTV hell for most of this century. It's nice to see the old-school JCVD whom fans love, plus his acting and dialogue delivery have also improved with age. The content in the trailer reminded of Wasabi starring Jean Reno but maybe that's only because it is the only French action film I have seen. It was unusual but still nice to hear JCVD speak French, too.

A Jean-Claude Van Damme French action comedy Netflix movie?
Looks fun.

JCVD is worth watching. I think that, Expendables 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 are his only movie since 2000 that had a theatrical release. It is an action/drama/biography.

I've seen:
JCVD - agree with movieman that you should watch. Not only has his acting improved, I'd go so far as to put him in my Oscar lineup that year. Yes, Van Damme for an Oscar. He's great in it
Universal Soldier Regeneration/Day of Reckoning - these are actually pretty decent, with some raw and gritty fight sequences.
Expendables 2 - these movies are cornier than Aztec shit. Seeing him as the bad guy in 2 is probably the best thing about it, although his fight with Sly is hilariously one sided.

Worth watching. His performance is the best thing about both movies and he is very good in JCVD. Heck, his performance is the best thing about most of the movies below. 1. JCVD 2. The Expendables 2 Meh 3. Kung Fu Panda 2 Below average, but not terrible. 4. We Die Young 5. Welcome to the Jungle 6. Enemies Closer

I will fully admit that my fondness for The Expendables trilogy is all based on nostalgic response. I grew up watching all of the movies from the actors in those movies in both bad and good action movies. So it brings back a lot of nice memories of my teenage years and that gives me feels. The best of the trilogy is Expendables 2, in part because of JCVD as the villain. I have seen every Van Damme movie made before 2000.

Hey man, I used to fantasize about a big dumb action movie where all these dudes got together when I was a kid. It just had more Ahnie, less mastabatory injokes, and no out of place newbs like Luke Hemsworth and Randy whatshisfuck hogging screentime from the vets. We only get two scenes of Chuck Norris, none of Jackie Chan and Steven Seagal? Bullshit!

I didn't watch many Jackie Chan movies when I was young, so that didn't make much difference to me. I would have liked seeing Segal in one of them, but by that time he was out of shape and no longer believable in those roles anyway. I got Wesley Snipes in part III, but would have liked to see him in 2. These movies are in the lower guilty pleasure category for me.
