The company lost its rights after 2022
Topps have been baseball cards for 70 years. They survived Fleer, Donruss, Upper Deck, Leaf. Might be karma for the Junk Wax Era, but all the companies fucked that up. I did like collecting the Heritage cards with the grandkid.

It's sad. I remember my uncle giving me a bunch of 1985 Topps cards to get me started collecting. Just another part of my youth that is gone.

One of my greatest joys as a kid was collecting Topps baseball cards. Just like most everything else from my childhood, it’s gone.

Topps lost the NHL, NBA and NFL years ago. Now they have nothing. In a way, hey have no one but themselves to blame. They priced the cards out of reach for casual buyers. The regular sets are boring. I've been collecting the Heritage with my grandson. Heritage are current players on old designs, 2021 players on the 1972 design. But to collect a complete set is damned impossible. 100 cards in the middle are "short prints', rarer than the others. You can only complete them through dealers or Ebay. And, of course, that 100 is where all the stars are, Trout, Acuna, Sota. And they draw you in with "Every box contains a one of a kind autographed card". True enough. We got Adam Lind. Whee.
The rumors are that Fanatics will probably buy Topps. They are a merchandising outfit who don't have he means to turn out a single card at the moment. I hope the keep up, I have gobs of fun with the grandkid collecting these cards.

I figured Topps was a goner once Upper Deck strode in.

And now Panini is talking about increasing sales prices across the board. Amazing coincidence since they will be the only game in town really when it comes to the big 3 sports cards. It's Panini or nothing at this point for the casual collectors who go to Wal Mart or Target.
Not that Target had them to begin with, they still have nearly all sports cards banned because of the scalpers.

I hope they keep up as well. I know what you mean about putting together sets. That's why I just collect singles of certain players. That and a lot of the cards from the 80s and 90s that were out of my price range as a kid. I also like how Topps brought back some of the past designs from the 80s and put the players of today on them.

When the 2017 Heritage came out, with the '68 design he bought cards with his own money and wanted a complete set. I've tried to tell him just to put money into the stars, Acuna, Judge, Soto etc.But he wants complete sets. Funny hing is, I can't get him to touch the Junk Wax cards I have.

Don't shed a tear for Topps. They treated their loyal customers like shit. Their website is teh worst, they overcharge to the point of ridiculousness for their cards. I watch a lot of the box opening videos for stuff like Five Star and Luminaries where people pay $350 for a couple autos and get 30 bucks worth of shit cards. The Clearly Authentics and Topps Archive Signatures are ridiculously awful. You pay 75 for one auto and although there's a remote chance for a Trout or Aaron, it's mostly shit scrubs like Canseco, Magelio Ordenez and Mark Grace or tons of one or two year guys like Leody Taveras or Dominic Smith, and you can't get 5 bucks on Ebay for those. But fear not, Fanatics will buy topps (at much less than they tried to before) and Topps will still exist under the Fantanics brand name. Fanatics has promised to make cards more accessible. honestly, I have no idea how little kids collect cards today.

Not that Target had them to begin with, they still have nearly all sports cards banned because of the scalpers. Fantanics got licenses with NBA and NFL, Panini is done after '25. I assume Fanatics will buy them out too but if they don't , they're history.
