It wasn't that good of a movie. Just copied off of the original film. Wasn't that funny and the ending felt tacked on. Should had gone with an Extreme Ghostbusters adaptation. Just for the nineties nostalgia.

Just for the nineties nostalgia. Shit. They should have done that in the 90s when Extreme Ghostbusters a hit for a short time. it was awesome to watch and still is. Harold Ramis could have sold it too. The sequels to Afterlife should take material from the Ghostbusters 2009 Video Game, Real Ghostbusters cartoons and IDW Ghostbusters comic books. They had great material, content, storytelling, villains and actions in them.

6/10 harmless and forgettable , at least not vomit inducing like 2016 Pretty much. I gave it 3 out out of 5 or 7/10. I wish it didnt lean on the first movie too much. It kept leaning on it so much and hitting everyone over the head with so many references to the first movie.

Good movie with a so-so final act. Without spoilers, the things that left many critics and fans "in tears" just made me roll my eyes a bit. 7/10

Just remembered a thought I had while watching: It's weird that they completely ignored Ghostbusters II while also repeating a mistake of that movie, i.e. many people act like they don't believe in ghosts even though ghosts literally invaded NYC in the 80s. As someone who really likes GB2, I don't know how to feel that they just act like it neve happened.

Among those fans is filmmaker and pop culture fan Kevin Smith who reviewed Ghostbuster: Afterlife on a recent episode of his Fatman Beyond podcast and while Smith had substantial praise for the film but also had an interesting observation: that Ghostbuster: Afterlife is a Goonies movie. "You know, for years everyone's trying to do Goonies," Smith said. "At least in the world I exist in and when I go pitch places, everyone's trying to figure out how to do a modern-day Goonies which I guess some people feel like that's what Stranger Things did. I don't think so, Stranger Things seems like something very different than Goonies to me." But while Smith doesn't think Stranger Things is a new Goonies, he does think that Jason Reitman pulled it off with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. "Jason Reitman did that with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Not only is it a Ghostbusters movie, and a very good one, by the way, but it's also a f-cking Goonies movie. It's a movie about kids on an adventure."

This bugged me so much too, where the fuck do they think Ray's Occult came from?
And I can see Peter and Winston not believing Egon about 'the big one coming', but he and Ray practically shared a brain on science and the paranormal, Ray of all people should've believed him. I get that they had to do SOMETHING about the issue of Harold Ramis dying, but it still feels like they threw him under the bus.

I did get that vibe from it, also E.T. for some reason I don't know, and a bit of The Lost Boys.

Having seen Ecto1 returning to the iconic New York firestation in the final scenes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, many believed that this would be the setting for the sequel. However, it looks like that is not the case, as a source told The Sun: “Studio bosses are taking a classic franchise, setting it in a new location but keeping the magic of the original. It’s going to be brilliant. Ghostbusters has always been synonymous with New York, but to mix things up this time the team was thinking of other great cities with a haunted history. London is perfect. It gives so much license to look back at classic landmarks and British history, but still in an urban setting. The plans look very cool, and getting the original stars interested wasn’t difficult. They all love the movies and look back at them very fondly.” movieweb.com/ghostbusters-afterlife-sequel-to-move-the-story-from-new-york-to-london-bill-murray-and-dan-aykroyd-on-board-to-return/
