He is also credited as the director of Tombstone, but it has been said by Val Kilmer and others, that Kurt Russell was really directing it.
Just thought this was an interesting fact.

Yeah totally different styles that's for sure. A friend of mine and I were discussing this awhile back. I'm guessing the royalties from Cobra, Rambo II and Tombstone alone paid for the making of Beyond the Black Rainbow and Mandy.

As someone who dislikes Cobra and Rambo II, it seems that sometimes bad movies are worth it for a different reason. If Cobra and Rambo II are the reasons that Mandy and Beyond the Black Rainbow were able to get funded than I am all for it.

I couldn't remember what else he directed and didn't bother looking. I try to forget every Rambo movie after First Blood exists tbh. Now I remember he directs Shadow Conspiracy too. Nobody remembers that movie though. It is a generic and practically straight-to-video political thriller from 1995 starring Charlie Sheen.

I hope he directs a sequel to Mandy titled Sandy starring John Travolta.
