Went all the time as a kid, like twice a week in my teens, but now I barely even know what's playing.
Part of this is that I don't have cable anymore, so I don't see the commercials. Part of it is that I'm married now and don't have as much time for it (and my wife and I often have different tastes). Part of it is that modern technology has allowed for great quality, cheap big screen TVs. I'd rather stay home and eat cheaper Reese's Pieces.
The last movies I saw in a theatre were "BvS" and "Rogue One." I'll probably go see "Alien : Covenant" and then something in Christmas. I personally find more interesting movies outside of the theatre and available from streaming services.

The previous time I went to the theater is to watch Arrival. I'm going again to watch Dunkirk in July.

I guess about 6-7x a year now.
I'll be going more this year; I went maybe 1-2x last year - 2016 was garbage.

I used to go at least once a week. Didn't have a chance to go at all last year. This year I've only gone in February when a friend took me to see The Great Wall starring Matt Damon for my birthday.

Where's the "probably more than I should" option?  But seriously I usually go twice a month . This year (so far) I've been pleasantly surprised with my choices in what I've seen (Logan, John Wick 2, Split, Get Out). Haven't seen too many stinkers . |

Hell, you go to the theaters even less than i do and i don't see many people who are active members here going to the theaters less than myself as i have been to the theaters at least double the amount of times you have from 2000 to date and i also selected the 'hardly ever' option in the topic. from 2000 to date i have been to the following movies in the theaters... Terminator 3 (2003) LOTR:ROTK (2003) Wild Hogs (2007) True Grit (2010) Drive (2011) In Time (2011) p.s. it's possible i could have forgot something in those early 2000's, but i don't think i have. if i did, it's not much. i was born late 1979. |

can't really say, i go in bursts, like i'll go every week for a month then stop for a few months then do it again.

I try to go a couple times a month. I'd go more often if I could, but movie tickets are expensive. I only go to the ones I'm really hyped to see (particularly in IMAX).

Well it depends on what part of the year.
I see 25-30 movies at the theater per year on average but the bulk of those are during the later part of the year.
Nov-Dec for example I usually see 3-4 movies a month at the theater because that is when the best movies are usually released.

Every few months on average. Sometimes sill go like 4 times in one month and other times I won't go for several. It really depends on my schedule and what's playing.
There is a theatre near me that plays older movies so even if there isn't a new movie that tickles my fancy I'd go to see A Nightmare on elm Stret or Jaws on the big screen.

these days, perhaps six or seven times a year, assuming that by 'theatre' you mean what we in the Uk call the cinema. Might be going to be more this year, I've been five times so far including twice to see Viceroy's house.

Not often. I've gone entire years without going once in the past. My last visit to the cinema was in July 2016 to see Star Trek Beyond.
I do plan on seeing both Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes this summer. Might also check out The Dark Tower, but I'm not sure about that.
