Álex de la IglesiaEl Día de la Bestia (1995) was his breakthrough film. It is in my collection. That I have never thought about it since my first viewing tells me something. Good films hang around in my head for days. After that first viewing I rated it 6/10, but I may have been too generous. It is a black comedy set in a horror/religious milieu. It is quirky but laughs are few and far between. Bunuel is the obvious influence but he needed to learn more restraint from the master. It is all a bit slapdash. Out of respect for you, Hi224, I will give it another viewing to re-assess. What others of his do you recommend? -027.jpg)
