He doesn’t virtual signal. He satirizes politics. That the Republicans have so much more fodder to ridicule isn’t Colbert‘s fault. He’s honoring the long Western tradition of playing court jester.

He said one time when seinfeld was on .

He said one time when seinfeld was on the show, that he can't appreciate bill cosby as a comedian anymore. Because of what he did. And it got pretty heated, because jerry got mad at him for saying that. I've never seen jerry so angry ever. Because he thinks cosby was a great comedian.
I saw that and Colbert was speaking his mind. Bill Cosby’s comedy and public persona was about being the befuddled American dad. He made a blue fortune off of it. Even if Cosby didn’t roofie-rape women, that he was such a horn dog pretty shows what a hypocrite he was and just another fake conman. Bill Cosby broke my heart.

I'm new to the term "virtue signaling."
Does it apply only] to those who hold a liberal point of view? OR, are anti vaccers/maskers, also sending "signals?"
I'm confused.

If you've heard the phrase, Sunday Christian, it's the religious version of virtue signaling. Good for thee, not for me. I don't believe Colbert fits that description, but he's an actor and I would excuse them from being the roles they play. If someone is a murderer in a movie, we don't expect them to go murdering IRL, so why expect the opposite.

An example of it would be people changing a word like congressman to, congressperson. Or spokesman to spokesperson. They changed it for no reason, because the man part in congressman as we all know comes from the word human.
And as we all know human means both genders of course.
So therefore it would be virtue signaling if they use that word, especially if a male congressman calls himself a congressperson.
However i guess that changing the word makes sense, cuz it sounds more normal that way. But if a man calls another man a spokesperson, then he's virtue signalling.

Of course they could have used congresshuman when the position was first conceived but why bother when the human doing the job was most likely a man? I mean, they’d probably be giving women the vote next.

But if you were talking about giving women the right to vote. Next thing you know they'll be a new holiday that they came up with, that is a holiday celebrating women having the right to vote. Celebrating the day that they had that right. In american .
It will a new virtue signalling holiday.
