Something to celebrate. Hubby and I were talking about the show only yesterday, and with no thought about any anniversary.
I remarked how noteworthy it was that I remembered them from their original broadcasts, considering that 'parental units' controlled the dial in our house during prime time, and anything they didn't want to watch didn't get watched...by any of us. I guess they musta liked it.

The networks just didn't like intelligent sci-fi shows; they also cancelled The Outer Limits and tried for years to get rid of The Twilight Zone, which is apparently why a few of the episodes were shot on videotape. NBC didn't want to spring for the whole five-year mission; I guess Johnny Carson's salary was just too much for them.

In October 2016 the network launched the most excellent, intelligent, time travel series, with great acting, writing, and feature film level cinematography and design, “Timeless.” This show got much the same treatment as the original Star Trek. At the end of the first season the show was cancelled. Three days later, the network renewed it for another 10 episodes. At the end of that season it was cancelled again. Then, 5 months later, NBC ran a two-part series finale. This series should seriously be picked up by Netflix or another streaming network.
