Or humiliated?
I grew up going to the Variety Bakery, in a strip mall. Loved their poppy seed buns and salt sticks.
My first real job was in the Shop Rite that was the anchor store, a few doors down. I always worked Saturdays and at my break I would go to the bakery and get the same thing - "One cherry danish."
One day I gave my order and all the girls behind the counter cracked up laughing.
I never went into the bakery again.

Yes. I've had grocery checkers occasionally make some negatively-tinged comment about something I'm buying. It's happened in restaurants, too, with menu orders.

Another "girls laughing at me" story. I always pronounced citrus as "cy-trus", and one day it slipped out while talking to two of them. Oops.
I've told this story, but I did a spicy curry challenge, finished, then threw up all over the bathroom. Felt pretty bad when they were taking my picture for the wall while some of them were literally wiping up my puke.

Also, it always starts an interrogation when I don't want dressing for a salad. It blows their minds. I've learned not to answer "And what kind of dressing on your salad?" with "None" because the next question will be "No salad?" Two waitresses tag teamed to offer me a litany of dressings the other day. Sometimes it's humorous, other times it's like I'm some suspicious outsider to their world. I'm better off picking one for "on the side" and using a fork's worth. Similar when I don't want special sauce, ketchup, mayo, or mustard on or with a burger, or ketchup for fries.

Not embarrassed but annoyed when the disembodied voice at the checkout lane chastises Catman for not having put the item just scanned in the bagging area even though he has already done so.

Oh, man, every time I do the self-check at Costco it turns into the equivalent of road rage for me. Recently scanned a heavy case of seltzer, put it in the cart, but I was forced to put it in the bagging area. And never put a box there to put your stuff in.
