For example, Oh God: Book II (1980) merely rehashes the exact storyline of its predecessor with a little girl in place of John Denver.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Evil Dead II - It's a partial remake and sequel. Ash and his girlfriend Linda are staying at a wood cabin. Ash plays a tape recording from the Book of the Dead. Linda gets possessed and Ash is forced to kill her. From then on, it tells its own story.
Fast & Furious (2009) - It has the same plot beats with The Fast and the Furious. Brian O'Connor is working with law enforcement and pursues Dominic Torreto. Brian romances Torreto's sister Mia again. Brian and Dominic reteam to take down a gang leader. At the end, Brian helps Dominic escape.

That is because Sam Raimi wasn't able to use the footage from the original to recap the story, so instead he just made a 20 minute remake and then goes into the sequel story from there.

Blade Runner 2049 feels like they wanted to do a remake but were afraid to.

I think Chris Columbus even called it a remake.

Dawn Of The Dead (1979) could be described as partial remake/partial sequel.

3 From Hell is essentially a repeat of The Devil's Rejects.

The horror genre is prone to this.
Halloween 4 / Halloween 2018 Friday the 13th: Part 2 Final Destination 3
The Dark Knight Rises treads pretty close: Bruce starts sullen over the deaths of people close to him, he finds new direction and takes up Batman-ing but not without overcoming losing his finances + facing his cave trauma, he gets horribly beaten by the supposed Big Bad, he comes back and fights the Big Bad again only to find out they're a glorified henchman and an al Ghul is running the show, Gotham is closed off and taken over while its criminals are released, the al Ghul stupidly leaves Bruce to die and hijacks one of his transports which is subsequently sent careening off a high rise killing them, Batman must stop a WMD and does, and we end with an Easter egg setting up a popular comic character.

Pretty much any of the soft reboots in horror franchises lately.
