Evil Dead II - It's a partial remake and sequel. Ash and his girlfriend Linda are staying at a wood cabin. Ash plays a tape recording from the Book of the Dead. Linda gets possessed and Ash is forced to kill her. From then on, it tells its own story. It's pretty much the same story as the original - or a continuation of it at least, only with a comedic slant. Seems as though Raimi wanted to make a version of his older film that was zanier and boasted a bigger budget. And he succeeded.

Creed just feels like a remake of Rocky.

Evil Dead 2, after Evil Dead. Desperado, after El Mariachi. The Phantom Menace, after A New Hope. The entire Rocky franchise.
I fear Matrix Resurrections will basically be a remake of The Matrix.

I never realized El Mariachi had a sequel. It had two. The third one was Once Upon a Time in Mexico with Johnny Depp.

I never realized El Mariachi had a sequel. Desperado fits the place of both remake and sequel, kind've. Then there's Once Upon a Time in Mexico which isn't a straight sequel either, and acts as more of an expansion of that universe. All directed by Rodriguez.
