I don’t understand this move. It does seem odd. My only guess is Universal is really pushing Peacock and hoping moves like this helps stack up the subscribers. I have mixed feelings personally. I don't really feel like going to the movies right now because of Covid. I love the Halloween franchise. So I am happy I can watch it at home. However, another part of me wants to see it gross as much money as possible at the box office. Between covid and streaming it's overall gross is gonna shrink a lot.

So what I’ve been doing is planning on going to the movies then buying tickets right before I enter the theatre so I know that I should be at least a few seats away from people. The shows have been half full at best, but I also normally go at off times like 4pm on a Thursday or something.

I tend to agree with you, I really don't know anybody that subscribes to Peacock. I absolutely plan on seeing the movie in theaters but if I like it as much as I liked Halloween '18 I'll subscribe for a month to rewatch it a few times.

Why? I’m pretty sure people aren’t gonna subscribe to peacock just so they can watch this. They’d be more likely to just watch it in theaters.

I just read online about another company's decision to not make its last two theatrical releases available on streaming. Without knowing the exact box office totals, they have been the biggest hits. I will assume anyone who is already a paying ad-free customer of Peacock will take advantage. But I won't be one of them, as I just signed up for the free ad-supported version of Peacock.
