Your Mother's Not a Virgin!: The Bumpy Life and Times of the Canadian Dropout who changed the Face of American TV! (by John Barbour) I'm at page 71, but that's only 10% of it. I like it, but some things are described way too much, and I sorta skim through it.
(Don't worry, he was in a few movies, too)

Biography, history and science fiction were my favorite choices when I was a steady reader many a moon ago. Have slacked off in my later years.
As for biographies, three that quickly come to mind are John Adams by David McCullough, Peter the Great by Robert K. Massie and American Rose, the Life and Times of Gypsy Rose Lee, by Karen Abbott.
