They need some studs on defense. And Shepherd might be a keeper but they could use upgrades at wide receiver.

I'd just laugh, the same way I do when anybody claims he's a good head coach despite his record without Brady. Is there an argument for his coaching ability? He slips farther under .500 without Brady with each passing game. This was such a horrible show. It's filled with horrendous reenactments and overly dramatic music that is impossible to take seriously, but there was all this commentary from sports reporters talking about what an evil genius he was and how much cheating he was doing. I can only imagine how bad the other episodes were. alot of the series feels a tad biased and oddly framed in a strange way, like their could be more story to tell but they left out very integral components.

Here is my recap and analysis of Week 1’s games
Rams defeat Bears 34-14 - The Rams played a solid game and made several big plays, Stafford was impressive in his Rams debut, throwing for 321 and 3 TD’s, and the Rams were in control of this game all the way through pretty much. They are a very talented and dangerous team. The Bears played an okay game but the Rams burned them on a lot of big plays and I have concerns about the Bears secondary after this game, Dalton was okay but is just mediocre at best, and I think Nagy will have to name Fields the starter sooner rather than later if they want to contend for the playoffs, I’m not sure what to expect from Fields but I’m certain Dalton can’t get the Bears to the playoffs.
Chiefs defeat Browns 33-29. Excellent game with both offenses playing really well, the Browns just made a couple of mistakes while the Chiefs didn’t and that’s why the Chiefs got the win. Both of these teams are very strong and dangerous. The Chiefs offense is still outstanding with Mahomes throwing for 337 and Hill and Kelce making big plays, they could improve on defense and I expect them to improve as the season goes on on that side of the ball. The Browns have a great offense as well, 2 great RB’s and I think Mayfield will have a big year, their defense can definitely improve as well and I think they will, they’ve got a lot of new players on that side of the ball. This was the best game of the day between 2 really dangerous, strong teams.
Steelers defeat Bills 23-16. Huge win for the Steelers as they go to Buffalo and get the win, they got a huge blocked punt TD and their defense stepped up and made big plays, the Steelers are a very good team with a lot of talent, they still have to figure some things out on offense but if Big Ben stays healthy and Najee Harris improves the rushing attack they should be good. The Bills are a very good team as well and have a lot of talent, they need to run the ball better this season but they are a good team.
Dolphins defeat Patriots 17-16. Dolphins get the win despite Mac Jones outplaying Tua, the Dolphins just have the better all around team and were able to make big plays when it mattered and came out victorious. They have a good amount of talent and I think they can contend for a playoff spot but Tua hasn’t impressed me so far in his career and he was mediocre once again today. The Pats lost but their fans have good reason to be encouraged with Mac Jones, he played very well in his debut and they are a better team than they were last year.
Bengals defeat Vikings 27-24. Great game and the Bengals got the win in OT, they have a very good offense, Burrow had a good game, Mixon ran for over 100 yards and they have very solid receivers, I think the Bengals could be an under the radar team that can pull off some upsets, but their defense is weak and that will hurt them in the very good AFC North. The Vikings have a decent team, but Cook wasn’t able to run the ball effectively which is key for them, and their defense doesn’t appear to have improved, at least not yet, but I think it will get better as the season goes on.
Saints defeat Packers 38-3. Shocking result here as the Saints dominate, Winston threw 5 TD passes and no picks, and their defense completely shut down the Packers with Rodgers playing one of the worst games of his career. I didn’t expect the Saints to be good this season but I could be wrong about them, if Winston plays well and doesn’t turn the ball over they could be decent as they have a good defense. The Packers were downright awful and I’m not sure if this is just a terrible performance or if they are in trouble, but there’s no excuse for Rodgers to play so awfully and they have to be able to run the ball.
Seahawks defeat Colts 28-16. Great start for the Seahawks, Wilson played really well throwing for 4 TD’s and their offense should be excellent, and their defense is solid as well, the Seahawks are a dangerous team. The Colts can contend in the AFC South and Wentz was okay, he’ll have a better year this year than last I’m sure and the Colts have talent, so while they didn’t play great today I think they are decent.
Eagles defeat Falcons 32-6. The Eagles offense played surprisingly well, Hurts was very good, and I think they got a great receiver in Smith who will help their receiving unit a lot. Their defense was good as well, and while I didn’t expect a lot from the Eagles this year the NFC East is always topsy-turvy and anyone could win it. The Falcons played a terrible game and were extremely disappointing, their defense appears to be just as awful as it was last season and their offense couldn’t get any big plays, I know it’s just week 1 but I think the Falcons have good reason to be concerned as they looked horrid.
Cardinals defeat Titans 38-13. Total domination by the Cards, Murray played really well and their defense was great, they shut down Henry completely and Chandler Jones had 5 sacks by himself. The Cards are an explosive team and I look forward to seeing what they do, one thing is for sure, the NFC West is a great division and will be extremely fun to watch. Lousy start for the Titans who should play much better than this, I expect them to be better going forward but their defense is a question mark.
Chargers defeat Washington 20-16. Nice road win for the Chargers, Herbert played really well and I think the Chargers are a dangerous team that could contend for a playoff spot because of how good their offense is. Washington is interesting, Heinicke came in after Fitzpatrick was hurt, and their QB position is such a big question mark that I have trouble trusting them, but then again the NFC East is crazy and they won it last year despite starting 4 different QB’s, so who really knows how their season will turn out.
Broncos defeat Giants 27-13. Broncos are interesting, this was a nice road win for them, and I like their defense and I think they have a solid team but I’m not sold on Bridgewater as a QB, but if he plays better than expected the Broncos could be pretty good. I have no idea what to make of the Giants but this is a make or break year for Daniel Jones and he didn’t play well enough today, the Giants have offensive weapons and could definitely win the NFC East but Jones has to play better and their defense has to improved as well.
Texans defeat Jaguars 37-21. Surprising result, the Texans played well and got the win, I expected the Texans to suck without Watson and I still expect them to a have a poor season, but they dominated the Jags today. Disappointing start to Lawrence’s career as he threw 3 picks, this was a bad loss for the Jags and they may really struggle once again, I expected them to be much better but this was a lousy showing against a lousy team.
49ers defeat Lions 41-33. Niners have a very talented team and they are good on both sides of the ball, Garoppolo and the whole offense played well and I expect them to have a good season, and the NFC West is a great division. It’s a bit concerning how they let the Lions back into the game but the defense should be solid. The Lions are going to suck, they have very little talent and the worst receiving unit I think I’ve ever seen, but I liked how they didn’t quit and I like Goff more than most people do.
Panthers defeat Jets 19-14. Panthers get the win and Darnold played well, if he plays well and their defense is solid, the Panthers could contend for a playoff spot, they have some good talent on both sides of the ball. The Jets are still rebuilding and I don’t expect them to win many games but I think Wilson will be a good QB and they should improve.
Any thoughts?

He looked mobile as ever and he'll have easier games - but sadly not next week.

He looks like a man ready to leave Green Bay any way possible. Now I am wondering if Rodgers says "fuck this!" and bails by week 5. Outright retires/quits or gets traded away, I don't know. But all the drama on whether or not last year was his last season and that embarrassment they fielded on Sunday? This might just be too much to deal with.

Hey, remember when Jamis Winston was a bad quarterback and was the only thing holding back the Super team of the Buccaneers from waltzing to a title? He was soooooo bad that they would have won the superbowl with any ol' average quarterback. But instead they had him, a really bad quarterback, and so they went 7-9 instead of going to the superbowl. Because he's so bad at quarterback. Anywho, I don't know why I brought that up. Winston threw 30 picks in one season - hard not to say that wasn’t holding the Bucs back. Still, it wasn’t his fault given that he literally couldn’t see properly. He finally got LASIK surgery after leaving Tampa. I knew this would make the difference, along with his change in attitude. He had major issues with the sun and lighting, and also would typically take the field without his contacts.

How do you watch that game and come away thinking Wentz was the problem? Because he couldn't do anything to turn the tide, to make a difference. And that is what I expect from a good QB: leadership and ideas that lead to the victory. But the Colts, despite their good roster, were at no moment even close to victory. If administrating a defeat is ok, then you got a top QB with Wentz. I hope a losing season is ok for you.

If Jordan Love turn out to be a bust, the decision to draft him could be the biggest bonehead decision in NFL history. I see why they did. Same formula they used to replace Favre. Draft a project, let his sit for 2-3 years then plug him in when AR is done. But Rodgers had to blubber about it. Now the Love Machine has to come out next year and throw for 5000 yards and 40 TD's or the fan base will crucify him.

How do you watch that game and come away thinking Wentz was the problem? Wentz seemed much improved as a player from what he was last year. Would have to see another game to conclude anything though. www.espn.com/nfl/qbrRatings never give the entire picture, but still: 26. So the mere statistics tell you that he was not good, not even solid. And on regular basis, I'd say Rodgers, Tannehill and Ryan are better QBs. Lawrence is a Rookie. So he is pretty much in the bottom part of the table. And look where he was last year with the Eagles, and where the Colts with Rivers: not the youngest QB, no pre-season, and completely new to the team. And yet he pulled off a winning season and the playoffs. The Colts are a very good team, some say one of the most balanced. They would wreak havoc with a QB like Watson or a MVP-level Rodgers. So if Wentz seems to be much improved, it might be due to the quality of the players around him. And yet the Colts were at no points threatening the Seahawkes in their own arena. Wentz will lead them to nowhere imho. It was a home game, and his coach is no stranger to him. So I doubt it will get any better. But yes, one game is not enough for a final call. The away game against the Rams will be his litmus test. I have the Rams at #3. A top five team on the road is pretty much the hardest job one can have in the NFL, and Aaron Donald won't make the job easier.

A top five team on the road is pretty much the hardest job one can have in the NFL, and Aaron Donald won't make the job easier. QBR is not a valuable statistic taken by itself. (Mahomes' QBR in SB55 was 49.9 and it was a terrible game statistically - yet anyone with eyes would tell you that he did everything humanly possible to make plays in that game. NO QB IN HISTORY would've won that game behind that line against that defense.) The QB is only one player. His performance is contingent on the performance of others. Offensive line play isn't measured by mainstream stats yet it's the most important facilitator of a strong offense. It enables the passing and rushing attack to perform as they're supposed to. Look at the line Rivers played behind last season. That was one of the best lines in the league. You watched the game. Did that look like one of the best lines in the league to you? I'm not saying Wentz was elite or anything, only that he was the least of their problems. Football isn't as simple as "Well, the losing QB sucks because he lost. He did not do enough to win, otherwise he would have won." Wentz's line wasn't performing. He had bad protection and the run game couldn't get going. Still, 5 weeks after foot surgery, he was mobile enough to avoid even more punishment and make plays when he could. In his first game with a new roster against a good team. He did fine. Could he have done better? Sure - the entire team could. But I'm not going to single Wentz out and say he was the reason for the defeat. That would be dumb.
