Loving it they are really building a Gotham Universe with HBO Max spin-offs. Hopefully not just series/mini series but also HBO Max movies as well. All in between The Batman trilogy.

Is it going to be a mini-series? They didn't seem to say unless I missed it. Right now Colin Farrell isn't even signed on. I think they are developing something to pitch to him and the studio. I would imagine it would probably be somewhat limited. They may do multiple seasons, but I think they would probably aim at doing say 3 or 4 with short runs of 6-8 episodes. Even something like 10 episode seasons with 5 seasons seems like a lot.

Bad idea. Why rob material for the sequel? Penguin is reportedly only the movie for ten minutes to set up a larger role in future movies. These desperate efforts to boost streeeeaaaming subs is going to undermine their filmmakers.

The Gotham TV series ruined any further interest in a Batman related TV series for me. Batman films are fine with me but not spinoffs.

Colin Farrell says the show could be R-rated/TV-MA when it releases on HBO Max.
I guess we're in for some Penguin-on-Magpie action or something.

What Colin Farrell has to say about Matt Reeves' involvement.
"He's so obsessive about what he does, but he's all over [HBO Max's] The Penguin [series] as well. I mean, he's not gonna direct it but he's all over the structure of the scripts and who's gonna direct them. And so, it's exciting."

"Penguin will sit immediately after the end of The Batman and temporally before the events of the second movie," HBO Max's Sarah Aubrey confirmed. "The show will come out in between the two movies."

Colin Farrell told Variety that The Penguin will begin production in February, and will take around five or six months to shoot. That would put wrap time around summer 2023.

During a recent interview with Variety, Farrell fielded a couple of questions about the series, confirming The Penguin's episode count. "It’s going to be an eight-part thing," the Irish actor says. "Around Oz’s rise to power, filling that power vacuum created when Falcone was killed."
"Matt’s idea was to have the Penguin show begin about a week after the end of the Batman film. And if it works, if the trajectory is interesting, and the audience goes for it, and we do our jobs right, the second [Batman] feature will pick up where the HBO show will end."
