I love kitchen shears. Twice this past month I've mistaken by finger for food. In both cases, the kitchen and bathroom have taken on the appearance of the OJ crime scene, or Dan Aykroyd as Julia Child.
Seem to have survived again. Never sure about when to maybe have it looked at, though.

If it's still bleeding even a little bit after an hour, or if it starts to swell, go to doctor.

If it's still bleeding even a little bit after an hour, or if it starts to swell, go to doctor. Yeah. Probably lasted 45 minutes last night. Kept raising it over my head, wrapping ice pack around it. I figure if I can safely donate a pint, it would have to go for a while to lose too much blood. Doc says I am overdue for a tetanus shot. I should shred mozzarella instead of using shears to slice it onto 🍕

Catman gave up shredding cheese years ago. Yeah, the shredded cheese from the stores is not as good as fresh, but then it doesn't have blood and finger parts in it.

NJ, are your shear blades too blunt? Or, are the two blades too loose from one another?
If you have to bring your hand too close to the blades, for the shears to be effective, that may be the problem. Kitchen knives that aren't sharp enough pose a danger to the human body.
I won't use kitchen shears that separate, and have the little "+" shaped attachment between the blades. They never have a tight enough connection.

I was trying to hold a mozzarella ball and clip very thin pieces off it onto the pizza crust while holding it in my other hand and moving to not have much cheese in any one spot. I had tried using a mandoline, but it doesn't like soft cheese.
