Well, the two teams wo sat in the top two for most of the season are going to meet in the decider. For the Grand Ol' Flag at Melbourne, they're looking for a Brand New Flag after 57 years of irrelevance. This is their third Grand Final appearance since the win in 1964. Their previous two didn't go so well: they lost by 96 to Hawthorn in 1988 and 60 to Essendon in 2000. To be fair two of the greatest teams ever assembled. This year though they have been the pace setters, sitting top for almost the entire season and finishing there for the first time since that famous premiership in 1964.
For the Bulldogs, they've largely underacheived since winning a drought breaking flag in 2016. They've consistently had a very good list and done failed to win a final from 2017-2020. However, with the God of Thunder himself, Chris Hemsworth cheering them on from Byron Bay the Bulldogs have gone on another improbable finals run and are playing off again this year in only the 4th Grand Final appearance in the club's history.
If you want underdogs, we've got you covered. If you want long premiership droughts, we've got you covered. If you want an inexplicable two week break in the middle of a pandemic, we've covered that too. And if you want shirtless Thunders Gods than hell yes we have you covered!
Who Wins?

Should also mention two big bits of Carlton news: long time club President, bottomless piss tank and manufacturer of awful beer John Elliott passed away at 79. Never a fan of his. Some hold him up as the quintessential aussie larrikin. I see him as a vulgar imbecile who's main achievement was being sober enough hours of the day to run a successful company in spite of clearly having a drinking problem. RIP John, but mate, you could have done more if you'd stayed off the sauce.
Other news was the appointment of Michael Voss as coach. Good move IMO. Michael was never a bad tactical coach. Always thought his main mistake at Brisbane was selling the farm to get Fevola in 2010 and having that blow up in every way possible. Also thought he'd done a decent job rebuilding the club when they sacked him at the end of 2013.

Hope Melbourne wins.
Only found out the other day that Western Bulldogs are actually Footscray. I had wondered what had happened to them. No need for the name change imo.

I hope Melbourne too, but I think the schedule has hurt them a little. They've played one game in 28 days. Footscray's name change was at a time when they were trying to rebrand themselves as THE Western Suburbs team. I don't like it either. My old man said it best "Western What?"

Demons. It’s just their year. It was the doggies year a few years ago.
I read a rumour once that some marketing genius thought “Western Whittens” was an appropriate name for them. Hawthorn Dermies (or dippers), Richmond Richos and St Kilda Pluggers were apparently not though….

Dermies is better than Mayblooms, the Hawks nickname before Roy Cazaly changed it to Hawks when he was their coach.

Final predictions: Heart Says: Dees by 15, Gawn Norm Smith Head says: Doggies by 5 goals Bont Norm Smith. Ultimately I just think their midfield's deeper and the schedule suits them.
Anywhere between it will be a cracking game.

Yep, some very poor errors from the Dogs defenders in that quarter. Their forward line match ups aren't working either. Need to make some adjustments and put in the scoreboard early or this one could be done by half time.

Dogs with all the answers in the second quarter. Melbourne not helped by their inaccuracy 5.9.
The margin only 7 but the Dees look in deep trouble to me.

Dogs running away now. Can't believe Melbourne didn't make changes at half time. It was obvious their game plan wasn't working.
Melbourne are doing what Adelaide did in 2017. The first quarter was all they had.

What a quarter from Christian Petracca! He has draggef the whole team along with him and Melbourne to a 24 point lead at 3/4 time!
To use one of Bruce's famous calls "He's made the difference...in the premiership quarter!"

16 goals to 1 after trailing by 19 and looking gone halfway through the third quarter. Absolutely remarkable. Melbourne wins 140-66.

If Christian Petracca doesn't win the Norm Smith then none of the judges should ever be asked to perform the duties again.

If Christian Petracca doesn't win the Norm Smith then none of the judges should ever be asked to perform the duties again. He was at 74% when I checked that Age online poll. 77% now.
