My hard drive in 500 GB and I am up grading to the a 2 TB one (WHO WOO). Any way. I have a lot of stuff on my current hard drive. I don't know how to save all that stuff. I was wondering if I could use the old one like a USB drive and get stuff off of it when I need it ?

If you have an empty drive bay, you can put your new drive there. Assuming you want the new drive to be C and the old one to be D, you need to change drive mapping by following the instructions here: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/change-a-drive-letterFinding disk management is easiest if you open the settings interface and search for disk management. Note that changing your drive mapping will probably mess with your shortcuts and may cause other problems with your programs. If you don't have an empty drive by, you'll need to change out the drives and then reboot the system with your backup device (probably a USB drive you set up when you first got your computer) and install an OS on the new drive. As for the old drive, you can find kits on Amazon or Newegg to convert it to an external drive.

Thank you my feline friend. I am going to back up everything on a external hard drive. And then install my new drive.
