A neighbor who lives a couple of yards from mine, recently strung a strand of multi-colored Christmas lights from his back porch to a tree near his fence. He didn't do anything else "fancy," and he doesn't give outdoor, evening parties that might require some decor.
They're on from the time it gets dark, to (presumably) when he goes to bed. Most of the time, no one appears to be outside at that time, and his door is closed much of the time.
Hmmm?
Then, I finally saw him on the street, and asked about it. He said that he heard that people were being encouraged to put up colored lights outside, as a symbol of positive thinking, and spirit lifting, during Covid. He added that he thought the recent storms, drought, wildfires, etc., could use a little "lift" too. He had some hand, so he put them out.
I don't decorate for Christmas, and don't have any lights, but I think it's a nice gesture. I'm thinking of getting some.
Anyone else heard of this ... or, strung any lights?
